NYX Cosmetics has so many great new products out for 2014 including this Dark Circle Concealer ($6). It comes in 4 different shades and I picked up the one in Fair to try out.
This concealer is a salmon tinted concealer that contains coconut oil and china clay. The coconut oil provides moisture while preventing that dry caked on look. The clay contains light reflecting particles to brighten your dark areas.
When this came in the mail I was so surprised at how small the container is. It’s not very much bigger that about a quarter. It is a bit inconvenient when you’re trying to get your finger into the small container.
The concealer is sort of like a balm so you have to swirl your finger in the container to warm up the product a bit. The small container makes that a bit difficult especially when you have longer nails.
This concealer is nice and creamy and definitely highly pigmented. A little goes a really long way so this container will last quite a while for me. It goes on easily with my fingertips and blends out really nicely.
I could see an immediate difference on my undereye area. It covers any darkness really well and brightens up the area nicely.
I usually see creasing almost immediately with cream concealers like these but not with this one. It actually stays out of my fine lines for pretty much most of the day.
The coconut oil does seem to do the trick too. It doesn’t look dry or cakey at all under my eyes either.
You may wonder how this compares to the popular Benefit Erase Paste. I do own that one as well and think it does an equally good job at covering dark circles.
However I find this NYX concealer to be a bit thinner and less heavy looking and feeling on the skin. Erase Paste does travel into my fine lines as this one does not.
And who can overlook the drastic price difference between the two? This NYX Dark Circle Concealer contains 0.1 oz and retails for $6 while Benefit Erase Paste contains 0.15 oz and retails for a whopping $26!
If you’re looking for a salmon tinted concealer I’d highly recommend you try this one. It’s budget friendly and does the trick for me!
