January QVC New Beauty Test Tube

My spring 2012 New Beauty test tube of samples from QVC is here!  I’m on the auto delivery plan and this is my third test tube out of six total shipments.  I previously posted what I got in my first New Beauty test tube and the fall New Beauty test tube.

I love these QVC New Beauty Test Tubes because they are a great value.  You usually get a few full size products along with deluxe size samples.  The samples in the test tubes are way bigger that the average samples you get with Birchbox.

At only $29.96 plus shipping you get 9 beauty and makeup products to try plus that month’s issue of the New Beauty magazine.  That averages out to only $3.33 per item, not including the magazine!

Here’s what I got:

Tarte emphasEyes Aqua Gel Eyeliner in Navy (full size)
Mally Volumizing Mascara (full size)
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum (0.5 oz)
Kate Somerville ExfoliKate (0.5 oz)
Philosophy Field of Flowers – shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath (1 oz)
Nick Chavez Yucca Root Shampooing Cream (2 oz)
Calista Tools Achieve 10 Hair Styling Cream (2 oz)
Philosophy Field of Flowers Body lotion (1 oz)
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Skin Cream (2 oz)
New Beauty Magazine

First off, the two full size products are amazing!  I’m a huge Tarte fan and I’ve been wanting to try the emphasEyes Aqua Gel eyeliners.  They’re supposed to be long wearing like gel eyeliners and the navy color is beautiful!  It’s a dark navy color with tint bright blue sparkles.  I can’t wait to test it out and write a full review about it.

Mally volumizing mascara is awesome!  I already own a tube and love it.  It gives nice volume and amazing length.  Yeah for me, now I have a backup tube!

I am also currently using the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum.  I bought it sometime before Christmas to replace my empty bottle of Origins Plantscription serum.  So far I like it.  It has a gel like consistency that smooths out nicely and smells like citrus.

I’m super excited to try the ExfoliKate.  I’ve been tempted to buy this before but wasn’t sure how my sensitive skin would react to it.  Not too crazy about the medicinal scent though.

As for the rest of the items, they all smell really nice and I’m excited to try them out.  The Philosophy Field of Flowers is surprisingly not overwhelming.  I expected a strong floral scent but it’s actually soft and light.

So what do you think?  In your opinion, is the New Beauty Test Tube worth purchasing?  It is still available to purchase on QVC.com.

maybelline dream nude airfoam review

Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation Review

January 20, 2012 0 comments

Well, I didn’t think I could be any more disappointed than I was in the Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse foundation but I was wrong.  This Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam foundation ($10.49) is terrible! Basically it’s the same concept as the Revlon mousse, air infused foundation packaged in a metal can.  You’ve really got to shake this can a good bit or you’ll get white foam out with little pigment.  Once you shake your arm off, [...]

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Lipstick Review, Photos and Swatch

January 19, 2012 2 comments

I don’t know about you but I could always use an extra boost of happiness!  Now we supposedly can get one from the Physicians Formula Happy Booster Lipstick ($8.99).  I’ll admit, I saw the pretty pink box with it’s promise of happiness and I bought it hook, line and sinker.  I’m a sucker that way. And once you open the package and look at the lipstick itself, you can’t help but smile.  It’s so cute [...]

Maybelline Illegal Length mascara review

Maybelline Illegal Lengths Fiber Extensions Mascara Photos and Review

January 18, 2012 0 comments

I think this may be the very first time I’ve ever tried a fiber mascara.  But after testing out this new Maybelline Illegal Length mascara($8.99), I’ll be sure to give more a try!  Illegal Length contains 4mm fiber extension that grab onto your lashes to give them greater length. You’ll find both regular and waterproof formulas in the colors very black and blackest black.  The regular version also comes in a brownish black.  I bought [...]

Revlon PhotoReady Mousse makeup review

Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Foundation Review

January 18, 2012 0 comments

Another new trend for Spring 2012 is mousse foundation.  Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup ($12.99) comes in a metal can.  You shake the can, like you would do with hair mousse, and dispense onto the back of your hand.  But be sure to press down gently, it’s easy to get way too much product out.  You only need a dollop of mousse foundation about the size of a quarter. When the Revlon Mousse foundation comes [...]

Revlon 3D Volume PhotoReady mascara

Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara Review and Photos

January 17, 2012 2 comments

Another new release for Spring 2012 was the Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume mascara ($8.99).  I like the sleek square packaging that’s super easy to grip.  The first thing that caught my eye was how short and stubby the wand is.  From handle to tip, it measures only 4 inches.  However, I don’t find it to be a problem and after using it, I rather like the shorter wand. The 3D Volume mascara brush itself is [...]
