Maybelline Lip Studio Color Blur ($7.73) is a new line of 10 vibrant cream matte lip pencils. I picked up two shades to try, I Like To Mauve It and I’m Blushing.
As you may notice from my pics, these are double ended. One end is the creamy lipstick and the other end is a silicone smudger tip.
The concept behind the Color Blur line is based around the popular Korean trend of darker lips in the middle fading out to lighter around the edges. Sort of how your lips might look after eating a cherry popsicle.
You’re supposed to apply the color to the inside of your lips and blend it out with the smudger. Not a fan on my lips so I’ll be just wearing this as an all over lip color.
Let’s talk packaging. These are wind up lip pencils that will never need sharpening. What bothers me though is that the wind up part is in the end with the smudger.
So in order to wind these up, you have to remove both caps. Not a big deal right? But when you’re on the go, it’s cumbersome to fuss with two caps while trying not to lose them.
The Color Blur formula is pretty amazing though. It’s super creamy and hella pigmented. One swipe gets you full opaque coverage without any dry or cakey matte look.
Neither of these colors settle into fine lines weirdly or accentuate them which is nice for someone like me nearing the big 4-0. They are not long wearing matte lippies though. They so transfer and wear off as you eat and drink.
I think these feel a lot like the Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipsticks. They have a silky smooth texture but can make your lips feel a little dry as the day goes on. Be sure to moisturize before applying them.

My Final Thoughts:
I think these Maybelline Color Blur Matte Pencil colors are very pretty. I recommend them solely based on the pigmentation and coverage. The packaging could be better but that’s just one minor detail.
