Nothing says good old Sunday afternoon comfort food than a platter of gooey bbq chicken wings!
This weekend was a chilly and rainy two days here in Western Pa. So I decided to try my hand at some homemade wings. Neither of us is very keen on really spicy hot food so I shied away from making buffalo style wings. Instead, I chose a nice honey barbecue recipe to try.
All I can say is OH MY! They turned out amazing. The sauce was a perfect blend of sweet with a little hint of spicy. While the seasoning on the baked chicken wings itself added a definite zing.
We devoured every bit of them and fast! This is one recipe I urge you to try, it has tons of flavor.
I have a little left over sauce and I intend to use it this week on some grilled chicken breasts. I’m not about to let any of this good stuff go to waste!
Ingredients:
- 2 Dozen Chicken Wings
- 1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1/2 Teaspoon Sugar
- 1/2 Teaspoon Paprika
- 1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1/4 Teaspoon Cayenne
- Cooking Spray
- 1 Cup Barbecue Sauce, Preferably Hickory Smoke Flavor
- 1/2 cup Honey
- 2 Tablespoons Ketchup
- 2 Tablespoons Hot Sauce
- 4 Tablespoons Butter
- 1/2 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Wash, dry, and season the wings with the salt, garlic, pepper, cayenne, sugar, and paprika.
- Spray a cookie sheet with a generous spray of cooking spray.
- Place the wings in a single layer on the cookie sheet, and place in the oven.
- Cook for 35-40 minutes, depending on the size of the wings, turning once.
- While wings are baking, make the sauce by slowly simmering the sauce ingredients over the lowest heat.
- When the wings are done baking, carefully dip them in the sauce, and place them back in the oven for another 5 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbling.

This recipe is soooo good. I have made bbq wings before with bottled sauce but never thought to add anything to it. The hot sauce definitely added a nice kick to the wings. Will be adding this recipe to my book! Thanks!

I made this recipe for dinner tonight but used pork chops instead and it was sooo good. The sauce was nice and sticky on the chops!
