It’s hard to believe but Thanksgiving is just around the corner. If you want a delicious homemade apple pie on your menu but are afraid to tackle the task, this easy recipe is for you.
I would consider this simple apple pie recipe to be pretty much foolproof. You can easily use store-bought, ready-made pie crusts like I do. That eliminates a lot of the challenge right off the bat.
All you need to do is peel and slice some apples, mix in a few pantry staple ingredients and pour it into your pie shell. Top with another layer of pie crust and bake away!
It really is that easy. Apple pie only tastes good to me when it’s homemade and baked to your liking.
I prefer my apples to be more on the mushy side and that just isn’t something you get from a store-bought bakery pie. I want those suckers to just melt in my mouth. If you want your apples to be a bit firmer in consistency, adjust the baking time as needed for your preference.
You can use any apples you prefer in your pie but I use Granny Smith and Golden Delicious. I like my homemade apple pie to have that bit of tartness to it.
Adding foil for the last few minutes will keep your crust from getting too brown. But again, that is based on your personal preference. Feel free to leave it off if you like a darker crust.
