I just made this for dinner this evening and it’s amazing! I love making creamed turkey after Thanksgiving with leftover turkey and gravy and this tastes just like it. The chicken breasts stay nice and moist in the crockpot and the leftover juices are used for the gravy.
Best part…it only takes three store bought ingredients to make! It’s simple and easy and goes great on top of many different things. I made mine with some homemade mashed potatoes but it would also go good with noodles, rice, biscuits and more.
I’d have to say this is a definite must try. I can’t imagine many people, if any, would dislike this recipe. It’s a good comforting meal on a nice chilly winter evening. If you like easy 3 ingredient meals like this, check out my crockpot buffalo chicken recipe here.
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 14.5 oz can chicken broth
- 2 packets of chicken gravy mix
Directions:
- Place chicken breasts in the crockpot. Pour in the chicken broth, cover and cook on high for about 3 – 4 hours or until chicken easily pulls apart.
- Pour 2 cups of the chicken broth/juices out of the crockpot and into a saucepan. Discard any remaining liquids.
- Add the two gravy packets into the saucepan and whisk well. Simmer on low until gravy thickens.
- While the gravy simmers, remove the chicken breasts from the crockpot and shred into larger pieces.
- Toss shredded chicken back into the crockpot and pour the gravy on top. Mix together and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, baked potato, etc. Yum!

I HAVE MADE THIS BEFORE AND IT IS YUM,!!! BUT I ADD MY GRAVY TO THE CUT UP CHICKEN IN THE POT, EVEN IF I HAVE TO USE ANOTHER PACKET, DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH BROTH IS THERE, I JUST CAN’T DISCARD THE EXTRA GOOD BROTH. AND SERVE OVER POTATOES LIKE YOU DO. IF I HAVE LEFTOVERS I ADD A PKG OF MIXED VEGGIES,WHATEVER KIND YOU LIKE, PEARL ONIONS, A CRUST, AND MAKE A CHICKEN POT PIE. JUST A SUGGESTION!!! TO ME NEVER CAN GO WRONG WITH CHICKEN AND GRAVY. THX

Danielle says
Are you using frozen chicken breasts or fresh chicken breasts?
myfindsonline says
Hi Danielle. You can use either but you should thaw the frozen breasts before putting them in the crockpot. The USDA doesn’t recommend cooking frozen chicken in the crockpot. Hope that helps!

Yummy for the tummy❗️
Easy, quick recipe, and delicious. Hubby even went
Back for seconds. Thank you❗️
Sara says
Hi Can you just mix everything together? Or do you need to make the gravy seperate?
myfindsonline says
Hi Sara. I wouldn’t recommend doing that although you could try. Depending on the chicken, it may produce way more juice than you actually need after it’s cooked. When combined with the can of broth you’re already adding, sometimes you end up with more than the two cups you save at the end for the gravy. That would mean your gravy would end up really runny. Plus I like to sift out any of the fatty bits in the broth before making my gravy. Hope that helps.
Dayana says
With this recipe and 2lbs of chicken how many people does it serve?
myfindsonline says
Hi Dayana. 2 lbs of chicken should feed at least 6 people. It really depends on what you’re serving it with and how much chicken each person wants. I like more mashed potatoes with a little chicken on top, my hubby likes more of a 50/50 potato chicken ratio.
Melissa says
Can leftovers be frozen?
myfindsonline says
Hi Melissa. Yes, the chicken and gravy can most definitely be frozen.

I’m kind of new at the IPot. How would this be converted into an IPot version?
Isela says
I am making this with two cans of broth with 2 lbs. of chicken, will it slow cooking time?
myfindsonline says
Hi Isela. Yes, you will probably have to cook it longer. I’d start with an extra hour and go from there. It really depends on your crockpot as they all seem to cook differently.
Melissa Audelo says
How many servings does this make? I’m looking to feed about 15-20 people for a potluck at my law firm
myfindsonline says
It serves about 4 – 5 people. I’d say that you need to at least triple it.

Throw everything in the crockpot at once it turns out great
