YouTube beauty gurus seem to be on a hot streak lately when it comes to big brand collaborations. We’ve had ItsJudyTime and Pixi, Casey Holmes and Smashbox, Jaclyn Hill and Morphe, and Nicole Guerriero and Anastasia to name just a few.
The latest to join the collab game is Melisa Michelle with her Ulta Beauty 12 piece makeup palette ($20). It comes with a total of 9 eyeshadows, a blush, a highlighter and a liquid lipstick.
The cardboard packaging is pretty basic but it does include a nice sized mirror in the lid. There are a total of 4 metallic eyeshadows and 5 mattes in the bunch.
The metallic shadows are so soft and creamy with very impressive pigmentation and color payoff. The mattes are a little bit more on the dry side, lighter on pigmentation and swatch uneven and patchy on the skin.
However, I have been using the matte eyeshadows on my eyes for weeks now and I can say they apply much better to the eyes than how they look swatched. They blend perfectly and give great color payoff with no patchiness.
It goes without saying that the metallic shadows are bomb. They look stunning on the eyes and they blend beautifully. I prefer applying them with my fingertips to get the most bang from the colors.
Mahal blush is the perfect everyday blush shade. It’s a matte finish blush in a nude pink color. It gives my cheeks the most beautiful, natural flushed look.
It has a soft, smooth texture that blends perfectly on the face. It’s not chalky or excessively powdery either.
Hollerrr highlighter is a trio of three different colors. When combined, they make a golden champagne color. The powder itself is silky smooth and applies nice and even.
I love that the highlighter does not contain any shimmery specks or particles. You can wear it lightly for a subtle highlight or really build it up for a more blinding effect.
Last but not least, we have the matte liquid lipstick in the color called Scandy. It’s a neutral pink nude color that ends up a deeper color on the lips than you might expect.
The finish of this liquid lipstick is not fully matte. It stays just a bit glossy, which I like. It has amazing pigmentation and is opaque in one light layer.
It is transfer proof but has a bit of stickiness to it. It’s not terrible or unbearable though. It is long wearing for me as well.
Overall this collab is a win to me. Melisa Michelle did a great job with the colors chosen for this Ulta palette. All of the products are everyday, wearable colors so I’ll use this one a ton.
