Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Waterproof Mascara ($7.99) claims to instantly add volume for fuller and thicker lashes. I have fairly thick lashes to begin with so I really didn’t notice this doing much in the way of adding volume. I did however like the length that this mascara gives my lashes.
The tube and brush of this Revlon mascara is bigger than most. On one hand I enjoy the larger brush but on the other hand it can be a little too big to get into smaller areas or close to the lash line.
At first this mascara goes on smoothly but if you start applying more than one coat, it starts to clump and the lashes gunk together. I do apply two coats but I find it works best to make sure the lashes dry between each coat. And for me, I find brushing through them with a dry spooly is a must to separate and smooth out the chunky bits.
I bought the waterproof version for hot summer weather when my regular mascara just doesn’t cut it. We’ve had some very hot days here this week and so far, so good. I’ve not experienced any running or transfer to my oily lids or cheeks. However, you can experience some flaking with this mascara. But again I think that depends on how thickly you apply it. I’ve found it mainly happens when I don’t take the time to smooth and brush out the chunky bits with the spooly I mentioned above.
I’m curious to see if this will have any effect on my lash growth so I will continue to use it for a few more weeks. Just for the mascara performance alone, I don’t think I’d buy this again. It’s a bit of a pain to work with.
