There’s only 15 days until Halloween so if you want to get spooked, you should do it now!  Below, I have gathered a list of 10 local haunted houses for your entertainment.  We live about 30 minutes outside of Pittsburgh, PA, so this listing is local to residents of Western Pennsylvania.

Have a ghoulish fun time!

The Scarehouse:

The ScareHouse, in Pittsburgh, PA is ranked as one of “America’s Scariest Halloween Attractions” by Travel Channel.

Located just minutes from downtown, The ScareHouse was also named as “America’s 5th Best Haunted Attraction” by Hauntworld magazine.

Where:  Etna, PA

When:  Thursdays through Sundays: 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm


Cheeseman Fright Farm:

This attraction consists of a haunted hayride, haunted trail and haunted house geared towards teens and adults.

Where:  Portersville, PA

When:  Friday through Sundays, from dark until 10:00pm


Hundred Acres Manor:

This haunted experience has expanded for its 6th year and has some new attractions;  “Massacre Mansion”, “South Valley Hospital”, “The Graveyard Circus” and “Hillhaven Penitentiary”. There is also a 7500 square-foot maze.

Where: South Park

When: Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays: 7:30pm to 10:00pm and Fridays and Saturdays: 7:30pm to 11:30pm.


Demon House:

This haunted house is based at the McCue family estate which has supposedly had haunted activity since the 1800’s.

Where: Monongahela, PA

When: Thursdays through Sundays in October. 7:00pm – 12:00pm Fridays & Saturdays and 7:00pm to 10:00pm Thursdays & Sundays.


Hobgoblin Hikes:

Recommended for ages eight and over, the Hobgoblin Hikes are ½ mile outdoor guided walks through the haunted woods of the park. Visitors can expect to be led through mazes and cemeteries, and past more than 100 ghouls, goblins and monsters.

Where & When: Mammoth Park: October 23, 7:00 – 9:00 pm and at Northmoreland Park: October 30, 7:00 – 9:00 pm

Castle Blood:

The MacCabre Family fiendishly invites you to a Gothic Halloween tour of their home, Castle Blood ™.

Join us for our 17th year of bringing “Halloween the way it ought to be” to Southwestern PA. This year’s theme is “Night of the Vampire”

Where: Beallsville, PA

When: Friday Through Sundays 7:00pm to 10:00pm


Fright Farm:

Fright Farm has been an integral part of many people’s Halloween tradition for over a decade, growing every year since it’s inception. Fright Farm is the largest haunted attraction in Western Pennsylvania!

Opening before dusk, patrons gather in the outdoor Events Area to enjoy live music, celebrity appearances, concessions, seasonal vendors, a computerized light show and classic movies and videos on our monstrous video screen. Once the sun sets, visitors are taken on a Haunted Hayride filled with horrifying scenes and terrifying monsters that will make you scream in sheer terror.

With no time to catch their breath from the Haunted Hayride, victims are welcomed at the Haunted Mansion, where the real nightmare begins. “Expect the unexpected” is the best advice given to anyone who enters the Haunted Mansion. With the new addition, the Haunted Mansion has almost doubled in size. Our state-of-the-art special effects, custom digital soundtracks, computerized lighting and talented actors make the Haunted Mansion a horrific experience unlike any other.

Haunted Hills Estate:

Haunted Hills Estate Trail is a haunted 80 minute long experience with 10 challenges that groups must face and attempt along the trail. In addition to the Challenge Trail, there are two other haunted attractions: “Legends” and the “The Chamber of Chills”

Where: Uniontown, PA

When: Fridays & Saturdays from 6:30pm to 11:00pm and Sundays 6:30pm until 10:00pm.


Phantom Fright Nights:

Kennywood Amusement Park welcomes you to enjoy three haunted mazes, plus Voodoo Bayou, Kennyville Cemetery and Gory Park. You can even enjoy some of your favorite Kennywood rides, with a haunted twist.

Where: West Mifflin, PA

When: Fridays and Saturdays 7:00pm to 1:00am


Allen’s Haunted Hayrides:

Travel through the country side on what some consider to be the most frightening trip of their lives! A wagon departs every 15 minutes and travels into the darkness on Route 666. Journey through the woods, corn fields and into the authenticated “Haunted Barn”. And if that is not enough, we even have carnival rides, games & concessions for all to enjoy!

When: Fridays: 7:30pm to 10:00pm, Saturdays: 7:30pm to 10:30pm and Sundays: 7:30pm to 9:00pm
