To my delight, NYX has come out with a new reasonably priced Matte Bronzer ($9). There are 5 shades available: Light, Medium, Deep, Dark tan, and Deep Tan. Since I am fairly pale, I purchased the Light shade to try.
Upon first impressions, the formula is very much like the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil. It’s velvety smooth with absolutely no shimmer. The NYX Matte Bronzer is a tad smaller quantity wise. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil is 0.35oz while the NYX Matte Bronzer is 0.33oz. But price wise you’re getting 0.02oz less at $9.00 for the NYX compared to paying $29.00 for the Too Faced bronzer.
Aside from the pricing benefit, I also like that you can choose your best shade. I like Too Faced Chocolate Soleil but there’s only one shade that’s pretty dark for my skintone. So I was hoping the Light NYX Matte Bronzer would work better for me.
As you can see, the NYX bronzer is lighter in color and has a nice peachy flesh color to it. It may look a bit on the orangey side in the compact but on my skin, it blends nicely with my fair skin without being too obviously dark and muddy looking.
I think for the price, these NYX Matte Bronzers are worth trying. I do miss the yummy chocolate scent of the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil though. These NYX ones have no scent at all. But I can do without the scent if it means saving $20 bucks! How about you?
