For Fall 2012, four limited edition shades of the Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Eyeshadows ($6.69) were released. I had a hard time getting my hands on these but once I finally found them I picked up two, Barely Beige and Rich Mahogany. The other two colors were a gold and a green. I’m not really into gold eyeshadows so I passed on that one. And the green one looked almost exactly like the Shimmering Moss cream eyeshadow by Tarte that I already own.
I love these Maybelline Color Tattoo shadows because they are so creamy and easy to use. Plus the price is amazing once you compare them to other similar potted cream eyeshadows on the market. You’ll pay upwards of $18 for just one cream eyeshadow from brands such as MAC, Bobbi Brown, Benefit and Make Up For Ever. You may even luck out with a buy one, get one 50% sale on these at your local drugstore!
Barely Beige is a shimmery champagne. Even though it’s a lighter color, it does have really great pigmentation. You can wear it as a shear swipe of color as a base or build it up quite easily to wear as your all over lid color for a quick and easy neutral look. It also makes a nice brow highlight color for those of us with fair skin.
Rich Mahogany definitely has more of a kick of color. This one is a rich shimmery brown color that is perfect for fall and winter. I see myself getting a lot of use out of this one! It’s not as shear as Barely Beige but it’s just as pigmented. I find one layer of this blended out gives me plenty of beautiful color. It also can be easily built up for a darker look.
For me, these Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows wear about the same as any of the high end brands I mentioned above. They crease on my oily eyelids after a few hours without a primer. When worn with a good primer like my new favorite Buxom Stick Around eye primer, I can get a good 8 to 10 hours of creaseless wear.
Both of these shades are good basics for anyone’s makeup collection. I think the average person can get loads of use out of these two colors. Have you tried either of these shades yet?
