Covergirl Flamed Out Mascara is another new product for Summer 2013. This particular mascara is supposed to “ignite every lash” for “bigger, thicker, fuller lashes”. Since hot sweaty weather is coming, I chose Black Blaze in the water resistant formula.
First of all I love the colors of the tube. It’s a fat, chubby orange tube with metallic pink/purple flames on it. The wand, as you can see, is definitely different. It’s also very chubby and squat which does hinder application a bit. It’s a bit difficult to get that fat wand close to the eye and in the inner corners.
This is another fairly dry mascara that you really have to work to get onto the lashes. But once on, I did not have any issues with transfer or flaking. I do like the way this wand separates the lashes and leaves them clump free.
However, I’m not that impressed by the amount of volume it gives to be called a “max volume” mascara. It does give a little bit of extra volume and maybe a tiny bit of length but nothing spectacular.
Even though this is the water resistant formula, I did not have any trouble removing it with regular makeup remover wipes. It easily came off without any harsh rubbing or scrubbing.
Overall I’d rate this as a so, so mascara. It does improve the look of my lashes but not enough to rate as a favorite. What do you think of Covergirl Flamed Out Mascara? Love it or leave it?
