Rolo Brownie Bites

rolo brownie bites

This quick snack recipe is a super simple way to dress up any boring store bought brownie mix.  In around 30 minutes you’ll have about a dozen and a half rich chocolate brownie bites with a caramel center.

I really like the added sweetness that the chocolate caramel candy gives to the brownies.  The Rolos do not melt completely so you’re left with a nice solid surprise center.  Plus they’re bite sized and easily hand held for any young children to enjoy without a mess.

new Revlon lip butters

That’s it, I broke.  I went back to Rite Aid and picked up four additional Revlon Colorburst lip butters.  I just could not help myself.  They are my newest obsession.

I stopped a few other places looking for these and couldn’t find them anywhere.  And I can’t believe there is no info about these at Revlon.com.  It’s like a great mystery.

So this time before tossing the little sticker seals, I took a closer look at the ingredients.  Here’s some ingredients that must make these little buggers so moisturizing and great feeling.

Jojoba Seed Oil
Shea Butter
Mango Seed Butter
Coconut Oil

Oh, and I forgot to mention the packaging!  I think these tubes are so pretty.  Each tube has a vibrant and colorful frosted cover with a clear top.  The top lets you get a bird’s eye view of the color inside.

I went for some bolder colors this time around.  The color payoff on these is really good.  The first two shades are still pretty sheer but the second two shades are very pigmented.  Here’s what I got this time around:

Creme Brulee – A really nice sheer nude that gives your lips a touch of color.  Great for an everyday moisturizer.

Pink Truffle – A blend between nude and pink.  One of those “my lips but better” shades.

Lollipop – Hold on to your seats, this is a bright fuchsia pink.  Highly pigmented, lots of color with this one.

Candy Apple – A colorful strawberry red color.

The Lollipop and Candy Apple colors are definitely bold.  They give nice saturated color and are buildable for an even more vibrant look.  Swatches of  Brown Sugar, Cotton Candy and Peach Parfait can also be seen on my original Revlon Colorburst lip butter post.

Tell me what you think.  Would you buy any of these colors for yourself?

FYI – Kristi commented on my first lip butter post stating that these will be a permanent part of the Revlon line and are supposed to be widely available in January.  Thanks Kristi!

turkey chili

All I can say today is brrr.  It was a miserable day here today with nothing but rain.  The temperatures started off not so bad this morning but have been quickly dipping down low.  I think it’s gonna go down into the 30’2 tonight, yikes!   And tomorrow’s high only around 49°.

Time to get out the heated throw for the couch tonight!  The cats will love me, I’ll be their new best friend.  Well just for the time being I guess, let’s not get carried away.  They’ll forget I exist in the morning again, haha.

It was a great day for a pot full of turkey chili though.  I’ve had this cooking light recipe saved from last winter and have just gotten around to trying it.  They call it a “20 minute recipe” and I’d say that’s about right.  It’s simple enough to whip up on any week night.

It’s a good recipe to warm you right up.  It’s got just the right amount of heat and spices.  Hubs gave it two thumbs up.

1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 (19oz) can cannellini beans
1 (14.5oz) can diced tomatoes with green chilis
14oz low sodium chicken broth

1.  In a large sauce pot; cook the turkey, onion and garlic over medium heat.  When turkey is cooked through, add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.  Bring to a boil.

2.  Reduce heat and continue simmering for another 10 minutes.  Enjoy!

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

October 24, 2011

Yesterday I ran over to my local Rite Aid in search of Halloween candy.  We’re only a week away from Halloween so I wanted to be prepared for trick or treat night.  You can’t go into Rite Aid or CVS without looking to see what’s new in cosmetics right?  Cause that would be just crazy.  I’m so glad I took a gander though cause I found something really cool!

Revlon has come out with tinted lip butters!  Whoa, what?  Yep, you heard me right.  I guess it’s a new addition to their already popular Colorburst line.  I’ve only had them for one day and I’m already obsessed!  I so want to go back for more colors.

The collection consisted of so many color shades that it was really hard to pick without being able to swatch them.  I settled on three colors: Brown Sugar, Cotton Candy and Peach Parfait.

These lip butters feel really nice on my lips.  They go on smoothly with a nice amount of sheer color and shine.  I like that they feel more like a lipstick and not like a flavored chapstick or gloss.  I recently tried the Maybelline Baby Lips and I like these way more for that reason.  They don’t leave any stickiness and there’s no scent or flavor.

If I had to compare these to something, I’d say they remind me of Dior Addict lipsticks.  Only they are way, way cheaper.  I bought the Revlon lip butters for $7.49 each while the Dior Addict lipsticks cost $28.00 each.  They both give the same amount of sheer color and feel almost exactly alike when worn.

I really like these lip butters a lot.  I hope they become part of Revlon’s permanent line.  Have you tried these yet?  If you have, what’s your favorite color?
