Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer ($29) is another great solution for dry under eye areas. It’s supposed to brighten and hydrate the under eye area while reducing the look of fine lines, puffiness and dark circles. This product is a little on the pricier side but a little bit goes a very long way.
The main reason why I purchased this was to make my under eye area a smoother and more hydrated base for my concealer. It does nicely hydrate the dry areas and fills out very fine lines to give them a smoother, more blurred appearance. One of the ingredients is dimethicone, a type of silicone, but it doesn’t give the area a heavy silicone feeling. It’s actually nice and light feeling.
I don’t have a lot of puffiness or dark circles so I can’t really tell you how it worked on me for that. However, this primer has a slight pink tint to it but blends out to be virtually clear in color so I’m not sure how that would cover really dark circles very well.
It has a really creamy consistency that makes it really easy to blend into the delicate under eye area. You really only need one tiny dot underneath each eye to blend out and get good coverage. I do like the brightening effect it has though. I like to apply it even if I’m not going to wear any makeup. It just helps to lighten things up and help me look more awake.
Overall I’m pretty impressed with this Smashbox under eye primer. It helps my concealer go on smoother and eliminates any dryness or cakey looking areas under the eyes. My concealer seems to settle less into the finer lines also. My favorite lately is still the Benefit Fake Up for under eye hydration but this is a very close second.
Available online at Sephora and Ulta.

You’re welcome Jade! I’m really enjoying it but some people may not think it’s that great for the price. Just save your receipt so you can return it if it doesn’t work for you.
