Kiss dry, scaly lips goodbye with the new Sephora Honey Lip Scrub ($6). A new line of lip balms and one lip scrub popped up at Sephora recently and I jumped at the chance to try the scrub out.
ELF has a similar lip exfoliator in a wind up tube that I quite enjoy. However, the ELF version is very rough and quite messy so I wanted to see how this Sephora version compared.
First off, the packaging is adorable. The outer tube is made of cardboard with a cute bright yellow honeycomb design. The wind up portion of the tube is metal and plastic so it’s sturdier than you may think.
At first look, the lip scrub bullet looks pretty smooth. You actually need to use it once or twice to get deep down into the “rough” scrubby particles.
It has a really light and pleasant sweet honey fragrance to the lip scrub. The product itself is fairly soft so take some care to be gentle with it during use so it doesn’t snap off.
It softens very quickly against your lips so it can be easy to get too much product on your lips. What I do is just use a few light swipes across my lips with the tube and then I just use my finger back and forth to exfoliate my lips without wasting too much product.
This honey lip scrub uses sugar exfoliants so it’s quite ok to get some of the scrub into your mouth. I don’t like licking it all off of my lips after use so I first wipe my lips with a tissue and lick off any excess left behind.
It really doesn’t have that much taste to it, just a little bit of sweetness from the sugar particles. This Sephora lip scrub leaves my lips feeling soft, smooth and moisturized.
It leaves a nice light layer of balm on my lips afterwards. It’s not sticky or greasy feeling at all.
Overall I’m pretty happy with this honey lip scrub. I love the convenience of the stick form instead of digging my fingers into a tiny jar of lip scrub.
Some of those greasier lip scrubs in pot form also break me out around my lips if I’m not careful. I haven’t had that problem at all with this Sephora one.
