Strangely I came across the Summer 2014 NYC City Samba display in my local Rite Aid the other day. I’ve been looking for these two colorful Sun ‘n’ Bronze Bronzing Powders ($4.99) since Spring when other bloggers started talking about them.
I loved the look of Rosa Rio and there was a $1 coupon on the display so I had to buy it. 🙂 The other color looked quite dark for my fair skin so I passed on that one.
Rosa Rio has two strips of a bright coral peach, two strips of light gold and a center strip of a medium brown. All three colors are slightly shimmery but not too much.
These powders have a really smooth texture that makes blending the colors together really easy and seamless. You can use them each separately but they are all lightly pigmented colors.
I expected the colors to be much more pigmented especially with how dark the brown looks in the container. The swatches below took about three swipes to make them dark enough in the pics.
I’m not convinced that this works as a bronzing powder. It gives my fair skin more of a light golden peach color than a bronze color. It works better for me as a blush that gives my cheeks a nice golden glow.
If you see this one pop up in a store near you, I’d say go ahead and pass it by. I’m quite sorry that I picked this up. I usually love NYC products but this one looks better in the packaging than it actually is.
