Tis the season for sweaty, shiny skin. This summer seems to be crazy warm so this Rimmel #Insta Fix & Matte ($6.50) powder is a welcome addition to my collection. It’s a translucent pressed powder with a matte finish.
The packaging for this Rimmel pressed powder is adorable. It’s a simple plastic compact but the powder itself is embossed with tons of hashtag symbols.
The powder itself has a slight white cast, when swatched on your finger or your hand. However, on the skin it disappears into a true translucent powder.
It smells really nice. I can’t quite put my finger on the scent but it’s fresh and clean smelling with a hint of floral.
You really have to stick your nose in the compact to smell it though. It’s not overpowering and undetectable on the skin.
I’ve been using the Insta Fix & Matte as an all over setting powder on top of my foundation. It has a very light texture to it so it mattifies my skin without looking heavy or caked on.
It has a velvet smooth feel and look to it on the skin. It blurs fine lines and pores really nicely as well.
I’ve even tried it as an underyeye setting powder, which looks nice as well. It doesn’t make my 40+ year old undereye area look overly dry and cracked.
It mattifies and sets my concealer while making my undereye area look nice and smooth.
I have very oily skin and not a lot of luck with most setting powders as far as all day wear. So naturally I thought this would be just another powder to fill up my drawer space.
Surprisingly, this Rimmel powder holds up really well on my skin through these super hot and humid days. It’s not bulletproof but my foundation stays matte for much longer than with a lot of my other powders.
I like that it looks and feels light and it’s not too drying on the skin. It keeps my makeup looking fresh for at least 6 hours, depending on what I’m doing.
Plus the price makes my wallet pretty happy!
