Welcome to another month’s unboxing of the Play by Sephora subscription service. September’s theme was The Unbasic Basics. Everything this month came in an adorable bag printed with a lipstick on the front.
As you can see, we got products from some really great brands. Anastasia Beverly Hills, Kat Von D, Dr Jart and more! Let’s take a look!
A look at the September Play by Sephora:
Dr Jart Water Drop Hydrating Moisturizer ($10.90) – I’ve always heard great things about the brand but this will be my first time trying anything so that’s exciting. This is a water based moisturizer containing hyaluronic acid. It’s supposed to provide hydration and visibly plump the skin.
It looks almost like a silicone primer when you squeeze it out of the tube but it’s actually nice and light and thin feeling. It has a very fruity scent to it that goes away pretty quickly.
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap ($7) – This sounds basically like a leave in conditioner that you apply at night. When you wake in the morning you can either wash it out or not. Not sure how I feel about this one. It smells amazing though!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel ($6.67) – This is exactly what the name says. It’s a clear brow gel to set your brows in place. I can always use more of this stuff so I’m glad to have a nice travel size.
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper ($7) – A highly pigmented black liquid eyeliner. It has a nice precise tip and transfers to the skin so easily without any tugging or pulling. Love!
Sephora Rouge Shine Lipstick in Love Spell ($3.38) – An adorable mini lipstick in a light pink color. This was quite disappointing because it has sheer coverage with very little color payoff. It basically just gives my lips some added shine with a hint of pink.
Tory Burch Jolie Fleur Verte Eau De Parfum ($2.80) – Scents of lily of the valley, mandarin, neroli oil and jasmine. It’s a nice clean floral fragrance but doesn’t leave you smelling like an old lady.
This month was pretty impressive. The only dud in the bunch (in my opinion) was the Sephora lipstick. The retail value came to $37.75. For me the Anastasia brow gel and Kay Von D eyeliner made it well worth my $10 investment.
