The past few years have been rough for events that involve large crowds. 2023 is poised to be a big year for getting haunted houses and Halloween events back on track. Here are the best haunted houses in and around the Pittsburgh area.
Scarehouse – Scarehouse’s new location in the Pittsburgh Mills will open September 8, 2023 and run until November 4th. Tickets start at $19.99.

Tickets start at $30 for access to multiple attractions on the property in Smithfield, PA. Open weekends starting September 8, 2023 thru October 31st.
Hundred Acres Manor – Hundred Acres Manor has been ranked as one of America’s Top Haunted Houses, featuring five haunted house sections. Opening September 8, 2023 thru October 31st with tickets starting at $28. Located in Bethel Park, Pa.
Demon House – A 139+ year old stone mansion is the unique setting for the Demon House. Opens September 1, 2023 and runs thru November 5th. Tickets start at $20. Located in Monongahela, PA.
Haunted Hills Estate – This epic haunted adventure takes place on a 100 acre family-owned park and features 8 haunted attractions. Opens September 8, 2023 and runs through November 4th. Tickets start at $25. Located in Uniontown, PA.
Phantom Fall Fest – Phantom Fall Fest is Kennywood Park’s all-day Halloween event. Featuring over 30 rides and attractions, specialty food & drink options, and 6 haunts and 4 scare zones after dark. Starts September 22, 2023 and runs through October 29th. Tickets start at $37.50.
Haunted Hollow – Five haunted attractions including a house, hayride, cornfield and more located near Somerset, PA. Opens September 22, 2023 and runs until October 28th. Tickets start at $22.
Lonesome Valley Farms – Two haunted attraction for 2023. A haunted farmhouse and barn plus a hayride and walking trail. Starting September 29, 2023 and runs thru October 29th. Tickets are $25. Located in Greensburg, PA, next to Westmoreland Fairgrounds.
Allen’s Haunted Hayrides and Tavern of Terror – A 1 mile hayride that travels through haunted woods, barn and field. Follow up with a 3500 square foot haunted walk through the Tavern of Terror. Opens September 23, 2023. Prices start at $20. Located in Smock, PA.
Eerie Acres Farm – This year’s attraction includes an indoor haunt plus a outdoor haunted cornfield. Food trucks, beer garden and bonfires. You can even reserve your own private bonfire for your group. Starts September 30, 2023 and runs through October 28th. Tickets start at $25. Located in Butler, PA.
Ravenwood Manor Haunted House – An 1860 Victorian mansion is the location of this 27 room, 3 1/2 story haunted house. Starts October 7, 2023 and runs through October 29th. Tickets start are $15. Located in Beccaria, PA.
Zombies of the Corn – Get in a zombie fighting vehicle and grab your “zombie killing” paintball gun. You’ll ride through a haunted trail and use your 150 rounds of “ammo” to fight off the live zombies. Other attractions include a 3D funhouse, zombie maze and more. Starts September 22, 2023 and runs through October 29th. Tickets start at $34.99. Located in Freedom, PA.
Spook Haven Haunted House – This year’s main attraction is Last Rites with a hospital/psych ward theme. Starts October 6, 2023. Tickets start at $13. Located in Mill Hall, PA.
Eeriebyss Factory of Terror – Find out what’s been haunting this 120 year old abandoned factory. Over 1/2 mile of terror. Starts September 29, 2023 and runs through October 29th. Tickets are $20. Located in Erie, PA.
Hobgoblin Hike at Cedar Creek Park – A ½ mile outdoor Halloween walk in the haunted woods on October 21, 2023 from 7pm – 9pm ET. Admission is free. Located in Belle Vernon.
Hobgoblin Hike at Twin Lakes Park – A ½ mile outdoor Halloween walk in the haunted woods on October 28, 2023 from 7pm – 9pm ET. Admission is free. Located in Latrobe.

Jason’s Woods – Celebrating 38 years with 5 full size haunted attractions. Starts September 15, 2023 and runs through November 4th. Tickets start at $25. Located in Lancaster, PA.
Reaper’s Revenge – A total of 5 haunted attractions including a haunted hayride, a haunted carnival and more on this 66 acre property. Starts September 22, 2023 and runs through October 29th. Tickets are $49. Located in Scranton, PA.
Torment – This terrifying experience takes place in the old Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. It’s been closed for years but has a reputation for hauntings, voices and other paranormal activity. Opens September 22, 2023 and runs through November 4th. Tickets are $30. Located in Weston, WV.
The Dungeon (WV Penitentiary) – If being in the former West Virginia Penitentiary doesn’t already creep you out, the actors will help get you to that point. Over 10,000 people visit each year! Will take 45 minutes to go through. Opens September 29, 2023 and runs through October 29th. Tickets are $20. Located in Moundsville, WV.
North Walk (WV Penitentiary) – Take a flashlight tour through the oldest part of the former West Virginia Penitentiary. Know as the area with the most paranomal activity, where murder, violence and brutality happened daily. It housed the most dangerous inmates in maximum security.
No actors on this 45 minute tour. You’ll walk with a guide and listen to tales from the past. Opens October 2, 2020 and runs through October 31st. Tickets are $20. Located in Moundsville, WV.
Factory of Terror – Five full attractions are located in an abandoned 150,000 square foot aluminum foundry. Factory of Terror has won the Guinness World Record three times for the largest indoor haunted attraction in the world. The haunt is over a mile long with 5 bars on the premises serving various alcoholic beverages.
Starts September 23, 2023 and runs through November 4th. Tickets start at $25. Located in Canton, Ohio.
Shocktoberfest – 6 main attractions make up Zombie World with so many extras! Games, food trucks, full bars and more. Celebrating 32 years as a top rated haunt. Starts September 15, 2023 and runs through November 4th. Tickets start at $30. Located in Sinking Spring, PA, (near Reading) about an hour drive from Philadelphia, Allentown, York, and Harrisburg.
Waldorf Estate of Fear – A haunted historic hotel filled with high tech lights and actors. Recognized as one of the top ten hottest haunts in the United States and in Pennsylvania. Follow up with a haunted 20 minute outdoor cornfield walking trail. Two additional attractions include an escape room and an interactive zombie game.
Opens September 30, 2023 and runs through October 28th. Prices start at $20. Located in Lehighton, PA.
Lehigh Valley Screampark – 4 haunted attractions make up this Screampark. Start with a haunted hayride through 50 acres of forest. Follow up with a trip through the haunted farm house, a zombie maze and a haunted trail. Opens September 23, 2023 and runs through October 29th. Tickets start at $35. Located in Orefield, PA, outside of Allentown.
Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride – “Last year the America Haunts Group named the Bates Motel and Haunted Hayride to Legendary Status, one of only five in America!” Start your experience with a walk through Bates Motel with high tech special effects, digital soundtrack and lighting. Then continue your journey with a 25 minute hayride troll through a haunted trail filled with Hollywood style sets and props. End your evening with a haunted corn trail filled with walk thru buildings and sets, tons of animatronic monsters and over 30 actors in full makeup and custom costumes.

Kim’s Krypt Haunted Mill – Celebrating 30 years of haunting fun. This haunted attraction is set in a 1783 historic grist mill with 2 floors of horror. A haunted walk through acres of woods and a haunted barn will help finish a fun filled night. Starts September 15, 2023 and runs through October 31st. Tickets start at $15. Located in Spring Grove, PA.
Fright Factory – “Fright Factory is a high scare, high startle, adult themed haunted house featured on the Travel Channel as one of the scariest haunted attractions in America.” Located in a 120+ year old factory basement with over 25,000 square feet and three different themes.
Starts September 29, 2023 and runs through October 31st. Tickets start at $35. Located in Philadelphia, PA.
Hotel of Horror – Two indoor haunted house attractions housed in the 200 year old Pocono mountain resort once called The Lake House Hotel. Starts September 22, 2023 and runs through November 4th. Tickets start at $40. Located in Saylorsburg, PA.
Hellstead Manor – Come to the manor where cannibal hillbillies roam the halls for their next bloody meal. Follow up with a trip through Wretched Woods and Swamp of Sorrows. “Hellstead Manor is a creation by local Emmy Award Winning special effects artist, Eric Lusk, whose work has been seen on films and television shows such as: House, CSI, NCIS, X-men 3, The Omen, Epic Movie and, Painted Skin 2.”

Wells Township Haunted House – Take a guided tour through this 170 year old building with over 10,000 square feet of scares. The building boasts a true haunted history making it the desired destination of multiple paranormal investigators. Starts September 22, 2023 and runs through November 4th. Tickets start at $16. Located in Brilliant, OH, 40 minutes outside of Pittsburgh.
Dark View -Take a tour through the spooky Bed and Breakfast where some guests checked in but never checked out. Opens September 29, 2023. Located in Toronto, OH.
Fear Forest Haunted House & Hayride – “Take a ride through 68 acres of the area’s most terrifying hayride and then get dropped off at the Insane-A-tarium, the area’s most intense haunted house.” Continue your experience though Fear Forest on a haunted hayride with animatronics and “the LARGEST drive thru Vortex Tunnel in the country”. Finish up with a horror filled 10 minute cornfield maze.

Fortress of Fear ScreamPark – Start your visit in the Fortress of Fear for a screaming good time. Follow up with the Fear Fair with rides, games and concessions. Opens September 30, 2023 and runs through November 4th. Tickets start at $22. Located in Alliance, PA.
Bloodview Haunted House – The Broadview Heights Lions club has raised over $5 million dollars, over 40+ years, by operating this haunted attraction. This haunted house is produced by The Legion of Terror, the world’s oldest horror improv acting, SFX makeup, and production company.
Opening September 8, 2023 and runs through October 29th. Tickets start at $20. Located in Broadview Heights, OH.
Ghoul Brothers House of Horrors – “Rated 7th best haunted attraction in Ohio by The Scare Factor.” Opens September 29, 2023 and ends November 4th. Tickets are $25. Located in Akron, OH.
Carnival of Horrors – A collection of 4 haunted attractions. An “abandoned” fun house where creepy clowns lurk around every corner. Continue your adventure through the chaotic labyrinth of the Insane Asylum and then the haunted trail walk. Finish with “Northeast Ohio’s first and most original fully three dimensional walk-through haunted house, using state-of-the-art Chromadepth 3-D glasses to bring The Freakshow to life.”

PennHurst Haunted Asylum – The formerly abandoned PennHurst Asylum, opened in 1908, is the background for this haunted house. Walk through the asylum, the morgue and the tunnels. Opens September 23, 2023 and runs through November 4th. Tickets start at $42. Located in Spring City, PA (outside of Philadelphia, PA).
Halloween Nights at Eastern State Penitentiary – Five haunted houses on the grounds of a 10 acre abandoned prison in Philadelphia, PA. So much to do in one location! Opens September 22, 2023 and runs through November 11th. Tickets start at $39.
