I’m on a roll with finding amazing new drugstore beauty products for bargain prices that I’m loving. This new NYC City Proof Buildable Mascara ($3.49) is one of them!
The packaging claims 9X buildable volume which I think is a bit of a stretch but it does do a great job, just not to that extreme. I have been using this non-stop for the past two weeks and I love it for both volume and length.
The brush on this one is triangular shaped with it wider at one end and tapering to a smaller point. It has a nice compact size that makes for easy application and allows you to get nice and close to your lash line.
I typically apply two coats and I don’t experience any clumping at all. The brush glides through my lashes leaving them nice and separated. It gives my lashes both added volume and a bit of added length.
You don’t get any flaking or smudging either. I usually avoid putting regular mascara on my bottom lashes because of my oily skin causing transfer issues throughout the day. But when I do new mascara testing, that’s one thing I do test out.
Pleasantly I am able to wear this one on my bottom lashes too! I cannot say that about too many masacara formulas. I usually have to only use waterproof on the bottom so this will save me a step.
Even though this mascara is durable and long wearing, it’s still easy to remove. It quickly and easily comes off with my makeup wipes at the end of the day.
Everything about this mascara looks just average but don’t let that fool you. I only bought this cause it was so cheap and I thought “what the heck” and I’m so glad I did! This is another must try for 2014, you really have nothing to lose for under $3.50.

I totally want to try this out! I tend to really enjoy volumizing mascaras the most. The wand doesn’t look like anything special or lovely, but, hey, at that price point, it’s totally worth a try!

The brush is so unique and gets all my lashes at one time. I hope a waterproof version will be coming out too!
