Let’s take a quick look at a splurge I made recently – Yves Saint Laurent’s (YSL) Gloss Volupte ($32) in Nude Carat. This is a nude lip gloss with golden shimmer in it.
This was a spur of the moment purchase I made when I was obviously weak with no willpower. I’m not one to normally spend this insane amount on lip gloss but I had a return at Sephora so I basically had “free money” to burn.
I hate to say it but you can definitely tell the difference between this high-end YSL lip gloss and other budget friendly drugstore glosses. This Gloss Volupte formula is so silky smooth.
It feels so light and smooth on the lips with absolutely no stickiness. The tiny golden flecks in it do not make it feel gritty either.
Nude Carat is a very light nude color with very little color payoff. It has the slightest hint of pink to it but it doesn’t give the lips much color payoff when worn alone. It looks amazing over nude lipsticks though.
The gold and silver packaging is of course very pretty. The lip gloss has the sweetest fruity scent to it that goes away quickly.
I’m an instant fan of the YSL Gloss Volupte now. I love how it feels on my lips and the nice amount of shine it adds. I’d love to have a few more but I’ll have to slowly purchase them, maybe during the next few Sephora coupon sales.
Available online at Sephora.
