Not too many people were impressed by the original Urban Decay Naked Basics eyeshadow palette but I happen to use mine almost daily. So when I heard about a second version, Naked 2 Basics ($29), I knew it had to be mine!
Just like the first palette this one contains 6 eyeshadow colors in total with 5 of them being matte and 1 having a demi-matte finish. The colors in this one have more of a cool tone to them and are taupe-hued.
Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics includes:
- Skimp – pale nude demi-matte
- Stark – nude-pink matte
- Frisk – warm gray matte
- Cover – muted red-brown matte
- Primal – muted brown matte
- Undone – deep smoky-brown matte
I have to say that I think I love this second version more than the original. The original had much lighter colors in it with a black that I hardly ever use. This second version has darker tones that show up much better on my fair skin.
I’m really loving every color in this palette and even use the dark brown one often. This is a very versatile palette that matte shadow lovers can take anywhere on the go. It’s a nice compact size and even has a good sized mirror in the lid.
All 6 shadows are very nicely pigmented and have a creamy smooth texture. They are a bit powdery so it’s best to tap the excess off your brush before applying to your eyelids. They blend very easily as well.
Overall this palette is as good as I had hoped it would be and exceeded my expectations. I thought “maybe one Naked Basics palette is enough” but I was wrong. They are actually quite different so I say if you loved the first, you’re bound to love this one too.
