This year for Valentine’s Day week I decided to do a little something different with my nail polish. I first painted my thumb, index and pinky with Essie Romper Room. This is a pale milky pink color.
I then painted my middle finger with two coats of solid white nail polish, OPI Alpine Snow. And lastly, two coats of Sephora Formula X’s Power Hungry went on my ring fingers. This is a beautiful bright red sparkle.
I added a clear top coat over everything and let my nail polish set overnight.
I then took a piece of ScotchBlue painters tape and folded it in half. At the folded seam, I cut in half of a heart shape so that when you opened it gently there would be a whole heart cutout in the middle of the tape.
I then placed the tape over my middle finger nail, centered as best as I could. Make sure you smooth the tape on your nail completely so the polish doesn’t run underneath.
I then painted one thin coat of the Formula X shade over the heart opening and immediately pealed the tape back off of my nail carefully.
I was able to reuse that same piece of “nail stencil” tape on the same finger on my other hand as well. I then went over the middle finger nails with another coat of clear polish.
I really like the way it turned out. In my up close picture here the stenciled heart looks a little messy but it looks much better in person.
What do you think of my Valentine’s Day nails?
