Milani Prep + Set + Glow Illuminating Transparent Powder ($10) claims to be a primer, setting powder and illuminator in one product. Let’s see how well it performs on my oily skin!
This pressed powder only comes in one color, transparent. It does however have a slight hint of color to it. Not enough to effect the color of your foundation terribly but it’s not completely colorless either.
The formula is silky smooth and not overly powdery. It doesn’t kick up a ton of excess powder when you swirl your brush in it.
Since I have oily skin, I was worried that this would give me too much illumination when worn all over my face as a setting powder. I feared that it might make me look greasy in all of the places that I fight so hard to control shine.
However, this Milani powder just has the very slightest amount of a glow to it. It actually just makes my skin look healthy and vibrant instead of flat and matte. It contains no glittery specks or particles.
The super fine texture of the powder keeps it looking soft and natural on your face. It’s not heavy so a light dusting all over does not make your skin look cakey or powdery.
The one thing that it doesn’t do too well for me is help control my oiliness. I still see my t-zone start to get shiny at around the 4 hour mark when I set my foundation with this powder.
Since I do still enjoy the look of this powder, I just know only to wear it on days when my makeup only needs to last me a few hours. This is not something I’d reach for on long, overly warm days when I want my makeup to last for hours on end.
