Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Skin-Transforming Powder ($8.99) is an oil free finishing powder containing Salicylic Acid. It comes in 8 different shades. I bought the second lightest shade, Classic Ivory.
The color Classic Ivory works really well for my fair skin. The powder has nice pigmentation and adds a bit of extra coverage when worn over liquid foundations.
I have also worn this Better Skin powder alone as a powder foundation. It gives my skin a natural looking finish without looking too powdery and dry.
Worn alone, it actually gives my skin pretty good coverage. It won’t perfectly hide your most obvious imperfections but it’s nice as an everyday quick solution to even out your skin before running out the door.
Better Skin powder has a nice silky smooth texture. It comes with an application sponge but I prefer applying this powder with a fluffy powder brush.
I like that the packaging also includes a generous sized mirror in the lid. That makes it a great option to throw in your purse for quick touch ups.
Unfortunately this powder doesn’t hold up well on my oily skin. Even with a primer under my foundation, my skin gets oily and the powder breaks down after about 4 hours of wear.
Overall, I liked the way this Maybelline Better Skin powder applied and looked on my skin. I just wish it held up a little better on my oily t-zone area.
Because of that, I don’t think I’d choose to repurchase this powder again. There are several other drugstore options that perform much better on me throughout the day.
I’m bummed that I didn’t have good luck with this powder since I do like the Maybelline Better Skin Liquid Foundation. I was hoping that the two together would make the ultimate pairing but no such luck.
