The Maybelline Master Fix Setting & Perfecting Loose Powder ($9.99) is an ultra fine white face powder with translucent coverage. It totally reminds me of the Tarte Smooth Operator powders, but at a fraction of the cost.
It has the same silky, almost “slippery”, feel to it which is a result of silicone being a main ingredient. A little bit goes a long way and does give your skin a pretty flawless finish. It does blur and hide fine lines and pores much better than a regular face powder does.
I like that it gives my oily skin a matte finish when first applied. However it doesn’t really do great at controlling oil throughout the day. I can get a good 3 hours of wear before my nose starts to get shiny.
What I’m really enjoying using this Master Fix loose powder for is setting my undereye concealer. It gives just a bit of extra brightness under my eyes along with blurring some fine lines and creases that I have below my eyes.
Overall I think this powder is good for anyone looking to really give their makeup a matte, silky smooth finish. Those who aren’t a fan of the feel of silicone primers or powders probably will not like this.
If you’re on a tight budget and you’ve been dying to try the pricier Tarte version, you’ll get very similar results with this Maybelline Master Fix setting and perfecting powder.
