I have found my new favorite liquid foundation of all time! About a year or so ago Kat Von D introduced her Lock-It Tattoo Foundation ($34). At the time, it became an instant sensation and all of the shades were selling out faster than they could keep them in stock. My shade was constantly sold out so I kind of gave up on it for a while.
I was on Sephora’s website about a month ago and decided to give it a quick check. Finally my shade was in stock at the same time I was already placing an order so I snatched it up. There is a whopping 28 different shades available and I picked up the color Light #48.
The packaging is really pretty. It’s a taller clear plastic bottle with an inner core of foundation. It has a convenient pump top too which is helpful.
As soon as I used this foundation for the very first time I knew I was in love! It has a pretty thick consistency that applies best for me with my damp beauty blender sponge. It has full coverage that masks all of my flaws, redness and imperfections perfectly.
This foundation has a semi-matte finish so even though it is thicker and full coverage, it doesn’t have that dried out look to it. Be careful to not apply too much though cause it can start to look a bit cakey. Usually one pump is enough for my entire face.
I had read in several reviews that people thought the ingredients my be causing them to breakout. As someone with sensitive, acne prone skin, I was worried it would affect me as well. I’m happy to report that I have been using this for a few weeks now and have not had any problems with breakouts.
I have an oily t-zone that usually breaks up my foundation after about 4 hours of wear even with a primer. Surprisingly this one holds up much better and barely breaks down after 8 hours of wear with a primer.
It has been terribly hot and humid here the last few weeks and while this is a full coverage foundation, it doesn’t feel thick and heavy when it’s on. It feels nice and light on my face even in this warm weather.
As you can see from my before and after pictures, this foundation is pretty much a miracle worker. Even though it is a bit on the pricey side, it’s definitely worth it to get such great results. I’m so in love with this stuff that I haven’t used any of my other foundations in weeks.
Have you tried Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo foundation yet? Are you obsessed with it as much as I am? There is a new powder version out now that I am dying to try!
