I was very excited to try this Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Powder Foundation ($34) after falling in love with the liquid version. Available in 17 different shades, I chose one of the light shades, #46. This foundation comes in a flip top compact with a mirror on the inside of the lid.
Inside the compact the powder portion also flips up to reveal a sponge applicator. Since there was no application instructions included, I wasn’t initially sure how to apply it. But over the course of using this for a few weeks, I’ve discovered it works best for me to apply it first with a stiffer, more compact powder brush.
The brush application gives my skin medium coverage with a very natural look. The powder itself has a silky smooth texture and covers the majority of blemishes and redness with one fairly light dusting. Then with any spots that need extra attention, I add a touch more by pressing the powder on using the included sponge.
I enjoy using powder foundations on days where I want to quickly and effortless even out my skin and cover problem spots. The finish of this one is by far the best of all the ones I own. It gives my skin a nice matte finish but doesn’t look powdery or dry at all. Powder foundations sometimes tend to settle into pores and fine lines but this one does not.
This foundation wears really well on my oily skin also. When applied over a primer, I get about 6 hours of wear before things start to get shiny. That’s pretty good for me considering I usually start to look oily at about the 4 hour mark.
I’d say this is definitely another winner for the Kat Von D line. I love the look this powder foundation gives to my skin and the amount of coverage it offers. As well as the Lock-It Tattoo liquid foundation, I highly recommend you give this a try.
