Another month, another Ipsy bag.! I’m always so excited to get these in the mail each month! I always skip their spoilers on Facebook and let it be a surprise for myself each month. This month was ok for me. Not one of my favorites however I did get my $10 worth out of the products that I will use in the bag.
Let’s start with this month’s makeup bag. It’s a cobalt blue background printed with a black butterfly and floral lace like print. I like the blue color but the print is really not my style.
The first thing in the bag that caught my eye was three different Freeman paper facial masks valued at $6 total. There is a brightening, purifying and a hydrating one. I’m always curious to try new skincare so these will definitely get tested out.
The next exciting thing was a full sized NYX Cosmetics eyeshadow single valued at $4.50. I received the shade Cryptonite which is a dark glittery charcoal gray shade. It is nicely pigmented but does contain a lot of sparkle. I’ll use it but it’s definitely not an everyday eyeshadow for me at my age.
Next we have a large full sized kohl eye pencil by Starlooks in the color Obsidian, a matte black. This eyeliner is more on the dryer side and not as smooth and creamy as some other brands are. However, it does still transfer very well and is nicely pigmented. This product is valued at $12 retail.
I’m always excited to get more mascara samples. I love trying new ones and I never run out of mascara! This mini tube of It’s So Big volumizing mascara, valued at $7.99, is by Elizabeth Mott. Never heard of this brand but the brush is nice and small like I like. Can’t wait to try it!
Lastly let’s look at the one product this month I absolutely hate, a full sized Fantabulous Lipstick by J Cat Beauty valued at $2.50. I got the color Honeycrisp and it basically looks like a tube of concealer with a hint of peach. It’s on the drier side and emphasizes every crack and crevice on my lips. And the color makes me look dead. Yuck!
I was happy to see a sample tester for Michelle Phan’s new makeup line, EM, also included. It came on a fold out brochure with 3 shades of eyeshadow and 1 shade of blush. It’s probably only enough for one single use but it’ll still be fun to try out.
Overall the products this month were pretty good. I’ll get use out of everything but the lipstick. My items came in at a grand total of just under $33 retail value. Not too bad. Are you an Ipsy subscriber?

We received several of the same products this month (the eyeliner, mascara and eyeshadow-though I received a different shade). This wasn’t my favorite month, but it wasn’t bad. If you’d like to see what I received, you can read my blog post here:

Just wanted to point out that I don’t think the EM press packet is for actual use, there is a little disclaimer on the foldout that says something along the lines of, “sample for evaluation of texture and aesthetic purposes only.”

That’s a bummer Amy. You’d think as the creator of both Ipsy and Em Cosmetics, Michelle Phan would include an actual sample for us to try. Not cool. 🙁
