As soon as I reached in my mail box and pulled out my June 2014 Ipsy bag I knew I was most likely going to be disappointed. The envelope was so light and so thin this month that for a moment I thought maybe they forgot a few things, lol. But nope, the products were just all smaller and lighter than usual.
I did like the bag this month which was done by designer Rebecca Minkoff. The black background is printed with brighter, multi-colored tropical flowers and pineapples. Very cute for summer travel!
Here’s what I got:
Let’s start with the best first. I received a full size NYX Butter Gloss ($5) in the shade Eclair. I love these glosses and own pretty much every color including this one. This shade is a beautiful neutral pink shade so I can always use a back up.
Next we have a full size Ofra Eyebrow Pencil ($13) in the shade Universal. This pencil does need sharpened which is kind of a bummer but it seems fairly creamy.
The color comes off as a medium brown which shoud work really well for me. Not sure how often I’ll reach for it though cause I really do prefer the skinnier wind up brow pencils.
I am probably most excited about the full size liquid shimmer eyeliner by Nicka K New York ($4.99). It’s a brighter blue metallic color that will add a nice pop to my eyes. The tip is a little stiff and hard to work with but I’ll only be using it once in a while anyway.
Next up is a small tube (0.5 oz) of Carol’s Daughter Sacred Tiare ($0.94) styling cream. This is supposed to protect your hair and control frizz when you blow dry and/or flat iron your hair. Since I do neither, I won’t get much use from this. It smells really nice though.
Lastly is a Realtree ($1.18) fragrance sample (0.16 oz). This is a bit weird to me cause it’s made by the folks who make Realtree camo clothes.
Apparently it’s mainly pomegranate with floral notes of orchid, lotus flower, champaca flower and persimmons. It also has amber in it which seems to tone down the floral and fruity scents.
I’m surprised to say that I actually like this one. I’m not usually a fan of floral fragrances but this one is quite tolerable.
As you can see nothing too exciting. The lip gloss and the eyeliner are pretty much the only parts of this month’s bag that I really like. The retail value of the products in my bag was $25.11 so still way worth the $10 subscription fee.
