I’m a huge fan of my BeautyBlender makeup sponge. It makes applying my foundation a breeze while giving it a more even finish. One thing I do not like is that it’s not disposable and therefore needs cleaned often.
They sell a specific cleanser for the BeautyBlender but I honestly can’t be bothered to have yet another bottle of stuff hanging around. So I came up with my own fast and simple way of how to clean it often with products I have in my arsenal everyday.
I’ll be honest, before I figured this cleaning method out, I would usually try to clean it at least every week or so. More often I would forget until 2 weeks would pass but not now!
My daily routine would usually be taking it into the bathroom to moisten it either before or right after my shower. I’d then take it back with me into the area where my vanity is located to do my makeup and get ready post shower.
All of the sudden it hit me. Duh, why not take it into the shower with me and clean it during my shower since I’m already in there! So simple but I’d never even thought of it before!
So now, I simply soak it and then apply some of my shampoo and work it into the sponge. Be sure to rinse and squeeze it out over and over until the water runs clean. Voila! Clean BeautyBlender in seconds and it’s damp and ready for use!
My shampoo gets the majority of the foundation out of the sponge but there still is some staining which is normal. If I have some stubborn foundation that the shampoo is not cutting through, I wash it a second time with liquid facial wash that is also in my shower.
Now I have no excuse not to clean my BeautyBlender more often. Another great bonus of this quick & easy method is that it leaves my makeup sponge smelling great too. Hope you enjoyed this quick tip!

I clean my beauty blender dupe before each use of I hadn’t cleaned it after I washed it the day I use. I use Revlon colorstay foundation or maybelline outlast so I know it’s gonna stain regardless of what I do and I use my face soap to wash it. I have acne prone skin and I can’t go without clean brushes and sponges. I figured if it’s good for my face it has to be good for my brushes and sponges!
