With Summer approaching I’m getting ready to switch from heavy, thicker foundations to lighter foundations, bb creams and cc creams. Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying out this Garnier Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream ($12.99) which contains broad spectrum SPF 20.
I picked up the combination to oily skin formula in the light/medium shade option. As you can see this is a nice size tube compared to traditional foundations that are usually only 1oz. It comes in a squeeze tube with a twist off lid.
The formula of this bb cream is a similar consistency to most other bb creams. It has a thinner consistency just like any other tinted moisturizer. Once you start to apply it though you immediately notice the difference.
This bb cream is the most pigmented one I’ve ever tried. It’s full coverage and applies more like a foundation. It easily smooths over the skin evening out my complexion and hiding imperfections perfectly.
With the amount of coverage this gives I actually prefer to apply it with my moist Beauty Blender. When I use my hands it tends to look too heavy and thick on my face, bordering on cakey.
The finish is a nice semi-dewy finish when applied with either my hands or Beauty Blender. I do like to finish with a powder for extra protection against my oily skin. However, that doesn’t really seem to help the staying power.
Unfortunately this bb cream does not hold up well on my oily skin even when I start with a primer and finish with a powder. At about the 4 hour mark I get pretty shiny in my t-zone area and it starts to break down on my nose.
I can confindently say that if I did not have oily skin, this would be my new favorite. It has superb coverage for a bb cream and I like the finish as well. Unfortunately I’m not that lucky so I’d have to say pass on this one if you have oily skin like mine.
