Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Elixir ($10) foundation is formulated with Vitamins E, B3 and B5. It’s oil free and contains broad spectrum SPF 20 as well.
I have yet to see this foundation in any stores around me so I ordered mine from Amazon. According to the Covergirl website, this foundation is available in a range of 14 colors.
I’m traditionally an Ivory in most foundations so that’s the color I took a chance and ordered. The color is perfect for me. For comparison’s sake, I’m 115 in the Covergirl Ready, Set Gorgeous foundation.
Healthy Elixir foundation is packaged in a nice heavy glass bottle with a plastic cap and a pump. One thing everyone seems to be commenting on is the scent.
It does have a pretty strong sweet floral scent. It’s not something that will deter me from using the foundation and seems to fade away pretty quickly after application.
I usually have pretty good luck with Covergirl foundations and this one is no different. I was pretty much in love with it after the first day wearing it.
It has really good medium coverage. It claims to be full coverage but I can still see blemishes and freckles underneath.
Healthy Elixir is about in the middle consistency wise. It’s not thin and watery but not thick or mousse like. I’ve applied it with foundation brushes but prefer the look achieved with a Beauty Blender sponge.
It blends out easily and has a beautiful finish once it sets. It’s demi-matte so it gives your skin that healthy, fresh look. It feels like nothing on the skin and does not oxidize for me at all.
Now to the tricky part, wear time. I’ve pared this foundation so far with a few different finishing powders with different wear time results.
I have oily skin and have found that my pressed powders do not help the longevity of this foundation. I get about 4 hours before my nose gets shiny and the foundation starts to disappear.
However, when I wear Healthy Elixir with a loose translucent powder, it stays put on me all day long. No shininess on my nose at all.
Moral of the story here oily gals is don’t give up on this foundation if it failed you once. Try a few different setting powders and see if that makes a difference for your skin because it is really a beautiful foundation.
