New in drugstores for Summer 2013 is the Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation ($6.99). I was excited to try this one out since I’m a big fan of the last one they released, Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation.
First and foremost, I love the price point! Some drugstore beauty products are getting quite pricey so I was very pleased to see that this is really low. In fact I didn’t even look at the price when I grabbed it at Walmart but it was a nice surprise when the lady rang it up at the checkout. Love when that happens!
There are quite a few shades to choose from and the thick glass packaging makes it a bit difficult to decide. Since I’ve been getting more sun lately I chose the second lightest shade, 310 Classic Ivory. Surprisingly this shade is still a bit light for my fair skin but workable with a little added powder and bronzer.
The packaging of this foundation is nice and compact which I appreciate. There is nothing worse than a bulky inch thick glass jar with a tiny center of product. This jar is not like that, it’s still sturdy while remaining easy to store and travel with.
As you can see, this stuff is really thick. It’s a nice and creamy whipped consistency but not too full of air that it just disappears when you touch it. No, this gives plenty of coverage and a little goes a long way. I prefer either applying it with a damp beauty blender of a foundation brush.
The finish of this foundation is pretty matte. Since it is so thick, be careful not to apply it too heavily which will result in a cakey, dry appearance. It has medium coverage and hides blemishes and redness really well.
Even though it is a rich consistency, it still feels nice and light on the skin. It doesn’t give you that heavy mask feeling at all. I was worried it might break me out but it has not so far.
Now comes the reason why this won’t become my go to foundation – the wear time. Sadly this does not hold up at all on my oily skin. Within hours this foundation mysteriously disappears completely from my t-zone area. The rest of my face stays nice and matte but the oily areas just breaks down this foundation and makes it disappear, even with a face primer.
Overall I’m about 75% sold on this foundation. I like the look, coverage, feel and especially the price point but the disappearing act just doen’t cut it for me, especially now that warm days are here to stay.
I’d say anyone without excessively oily skin may really like this stuff. But if you have an oily t-zone like me, it may not last all day for you. Be sure to save your receipt so you can test it and return it if you get similar results to mine.
Have you tried the Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme Foundation yet? What kind of results do you have with it?
