Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation ($46) is basically an oil free liquid foundation in a solid compact form. I’ve heard amazing things about Bobbi Brown foundations so when I saw this being presented on QVC, I knew I had to at least try it. The nice thing about QVC is that you can send anything back within 30 days if you’re not completely satisfied.
This Bobbi Brown foundation comes packaged in a black plastic compact with flip top lid. Inside the lid you’ll find a mirror, while hidden underneath the foundation is an application sponge. I’ve had good luck with compact foundations before, especially when applied with my Sigma F80 flat top kabuki, so I have not used the sponge at all.
This foundation comes in a wide range of shades, 20 in total. I went with Porcelain, which is the second lightest shade. The texture of this compact foundation is nice and creamy. It’s not dried out or cakey at all.
Since it is so creamy, you really just need to lightly dab your brush into the foundation and apply it to your skin. You’ll find that it easily blends out and covers nicely with just a small amount. I used small amounts at a time blended out and then applied a bit extra to problem areas and redness. If you use a heavy hand, you will start to look overdone. Less is more with this one.
I really enjoy the coverage that this gives. It really tones down any redness well and has a nice semi-matte finish. It looks really nice on the skin and feels nice and light too.
Bobbi Brown claims “12 hours of flawless, oil-free wear” but I don’t get nearly that long with my oily skin. At best, I get about 4 hours of wear before things start to slip and breakdown. And that it with a foundation primer underneath and a finishing powder on top too.
For me, a foundation that only lasts on my skin a few hours a day is not worth almost $50 so I won’t be buying this one again. I’m already a huge fan of the Covergirl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation which looks, feels and performs just about the same as this Bobbi Brown one but at a fraction of the cost.
I would not recommend this to anyone with oily skin. I love the way it looks on the skin but am deeply disappointed that it doen’t even last me all day. Have you tried the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation yet? Are you planning on it?
