Welcome to the glamour academy, this month’s Ipsy theme! If you still don’t know what Ipsy is, where have you been!? It’s a monthly paid subscription service that brings beauty samples right to your front door for the bargain price of $10 a month. Most months consist of deluxe size samples and if you’re lucky, a few full size too!
August’s samples were packaged in a pretty purple jewel toned bag printed with a gold Ipsy glamour academy print. One of the most anticipated samples for this month was the new Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks. I had my fingers crossed that I would get one in my bag but sadly I did not. 🙁 Huge disappointment.
I’m not really happy that they have switched to everyone getting different things in their bags. This was one of the main reasons why I left Birchbox. It creates too many hard feelings between subscribers. You always have someone wanting what they didn’t get which creates ill feelings toward the company.
I can understand that they want to customize bags to coordinate with everyone’s needs but I think products should all be the same in the bags just maybe different shades for different skintones or hair types, etc. Am I the only one who feels like this? What do you guys think?
Ok, enough about that nonsense. Let’s take a peek at what I got!
Michael Todd True Organics Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub (1 oz)
Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream with Shade Matching Technology (0.34 oz)
Noya Beauty All Natural Vanilla Lip Balm
Pixi Lash Booster Mini Mascara
City Color Cosmetics Cheek Stain in Pink
When compared with previous months this one was less exciting to me than the others. Most items in my bag where sample sized with only the lip balm and cheek stain being full sized. That still is excellent considering what you pay each month so I’m not complaining.
I’ve heard great things about the Michael Todd line so I’m looking forward to trying that. American BB creams just don’t seem that great so I’ll try it but I’m not expecting much coverage from it. Who knows, maybe it will surprise me.
You can always talk me into trying a new mascara so that I will definitely test out. And the cheek stain is really pigmented. A little goes a very long way with this one. I’ve just tested in on my hand so far but it feels nice and creamy.
The lip balm is the one thing in the entire bag that I won’t use. I’m not really into chapstick type lip balms. This one has very little vanilla scent and it is clear in color. I’ll probably just pass this on to the hubs this winter for his chapped lips.
Overall I still highly recommend that beauty product lovers subscribe to Ipsy. It’s always such a nice treat to get a bag of fun goodies to try each month in the mail. Each Ipsy bag is totally worth the $10 price you pay and then some. have you subscribed yet?
If you’re not already a member of the Ipsy monthly subscription service, you can sign up here. The subscription cost is $10 a month but you always have the option to cancel at any time.
