The new Mally In The Buff eyeshadow palette ($45.46) consists of 11 neutral eyeshadow shades and one cream eyeshadow base. You get a very nice range of shades from a nice light highlight to a deep chocolate brown.
The eyeshadow base works well to even out your eyelids before applying your shadows. The color works well on my fair skin tone but it may be too light for anyone beyond a medium skin tone. It’s very pigmented and a little goes a very long way.
This palette also comes with a double ended eyeshadow brush. One end is nice and fluffy for blending while the other end is shorter and more compact for more precise applications.
The packaging is almost exactly like the Urban Decay Naked palettes. It’s a tad longer but the same width and thickness. The top of this palette is also a magnetic flip top with a generous sized mirror on the inside of the lid. I love the green snake print! The outside can easily be wiped down if it’s gets dirty and messy.
Shadow Base – opaque cream base
Au Natural – a matte fair skin tone color (similar to, but darker than UD Foxy)
Bubbly – shimmering off-white
Buff – matte light brown
Tiger’s Eye – bronze shimmer
Cappuccino – matte taupe brown (a good dupe for UD Naked)
Shimmering Taupe – shimmery gray taupe
Brownstone – light brown shimmer (very similar to UD Toasted but less shimmery)
Oak – medium brown shimmer
Egyptian Gold – golden shimmer (a good dupe for UD Half Baked)
Toast – golden brown shimmer (a good dupe for UD Smog)
Chocolate Diamond – dark brown with gold flecks
When I ordered this, I thought for sure that I would find all the colors to be ones I already have in the Urban Decay Naked and Naked 2 palettes. Surprisingly, they’re all pretty different. I was only able to find 3 that could pass as dupes for Urban Decay shades. The others are all uniquely different.
If you have one or both of the Urban Decay Naked palettes, you’ll still get lots of great use out of Mally In The Buff. One really good thing is that these Mally eyeshadow shades are a lot less shimmery than the Urban Decay ones. I don’t experience any fallout either which is a common problem with UD eyeshadows. And for someone like myself who is 36 years old, less shimmer is a good thing!

This is pretty, but as I already have the Naked palette, I don’t really see the need to buy the Mally one. I also prefer Naked over In the Buff because In the Buff seems a LOT warmer overall–kinda all one-note, while the Naked has a nice mix of warm and cool.
I agree, they are very similar. However, the UD palettes are very shimmery and sparkly. For someone who likes less shimmery and more matte colors, this is a perfect alternative.
