This Spring 2014 Maybelline has released a ton of new things in their Dare To Go Nude collection. The products in the collection aren’t new but it consists of a limited edition range of new nude colors.
I came across a Color Elixir ($9.49) display which included 6 new limited edition shades. I picked up two neutral shades, Sandy Sensation and Gleaming Gold.
In the packaging these two shades looked like they might be fairly opaque but are they actually very sheer. I was quite disappointed as neither one really gives me any “bang” on my lips. Actually they barely give me any color at all.
Sandy Sensation is a peachy nude that goes on a little milky. It does settle into fine lines and accentuates them a bit. Gleaming Gold is a very sheer wash of light golden tan color with shimmery particles in it.
Both of these do have a silky smooth texture and are not sticky at all. I am glad that the shimmer in Gleaming Gold is not gritty either.
Sadly I was hoping for a lot more from these so I’m quite bummed. They don’t have much color payoff alone so they look much better over a lipstick. For the price though I don’t think they are worth running out for.
What do you think of Maybelline Sandy Sensation and Gleaming Gold?

Nice post! I’ve been wanting to try these out but they’re so pricey for drugstore haha. Maybe when I catch them on sale I’ll cave 🙂

Yea, I’m not really a fan of the price either but they are nice glosses. I usually splurge when they’re buy 1, get 1 half off.
