I’ve heard so many good things about this ELF Studio Daily Moisture Stick ($6) so I decided to give it a try. This moisturizer comes in stick form in a wind up tube for easy application. It’s a firm clear gel that is supposed to hydrate and nourish skin.
I was a bit worried before this arrived in my mail. A few days after I placed my order I started hearing people online say how badly it stunk. So bad that they couldn’t even use it. Naturally I thought I had just wasted my money and that I would have to send it right back after it came.
When it arrived I couldn’t wait to rip into the box to see what all the uproar was about. And lo and behold, mine had no scent at all. I did a little happy dance that I was one of the lucky people that did not receive a bad one.
This gel moisturizer applies really easily to the face. It has a semi-wet feel to it when you glide it across your skin. I then smooth it out with my fingertips. It goes on clear and dries down quickly. It doesn’t leave your skin greasy or oily looking/feeling at all.
I’ve been using this mainly under my eyes everyday and on some dry patches here and there. It has been really hydrating my undereye area nicely. I also like to use it on the back of my hands to keep them feeling soft and from looking cracked.
I would recommend this moisture stick to anyone who has slightly dry skin. For me it works well with my minimal problem areas as I need it. I’m not sure how well it would work for someone with excessive dry skin though.
I’m hoping that they have corrected the issue with the bad batch. This contains several different oils such as grape seed, avocado and macadamia as well as cocoa and shea butters. My guess would be that they had some issue that caused one or several of the ingredients to go rancid which caused the bad scent.
