It’s that time of year again when a lot of people seek out fun ways of getting their pants scared off. Here in the Pittsburgh area there are quite a few for you to choose from. So if you’re looking for a scary good time, I put together a handy list for you.
The ticket prices I’ve included are the adult prices cause let’s be honest, most of these places are not suitable for children, lol. Have a scary good time!
Scarehouse – Opens September 19, 2014 and runs through November 1st. Buy your tickets online to guarantee your admission and reserve entry time. Tickets run $24.99 and up. Located in Etna, PA.

Fright Farm – This is a destination spot featuring 5 haunted attractions, food, and entertainment. Opens September 26, 2014 and runs through November 2nd. Ticket prices start at $25 and can be purchased online. Located in Smithfield, PA.
Hundred Acres Manor – 6 haunted attractions in one place. Featured on The Travel Channel in 2013 as one of America’s Scariest Halloween Attractions. Opens September 12, 2014 and runs through November 2nd. Located in Bethel Park, PA. Tickets available online starting at $18.

Demon House – A 139+ year old stone mansion is the unique setting for the Demon House. Open now through November 1st. Located in Monongahela, PA. Tickets are $18.

Castle Blood – Located in a historic 100 year old building and featuring a theatrical, interactive storyline. Opens October 3, 2014 and runs through November 1st. Admission starts at $7.50. Located in Monessen, PA.

Haunted Hills Estate – This haunted adventure takes place on a 100 acre farm and features 3 haunted attractions. Opens September 19, 2014 and runs through November 1st. Tickets start at $14 and can be purchased online. Located in Uniontown, PA.

Phantom Fright Nights – Every weekend Kennywood Park takes on a frightfully terrifying theme. Rides are still open but they run in the dark. Prices start at $32.99. Opens September 26, 2014 and runs through November 1st. Located in West Mifflin, PA.

Terror Town – Pittsburgh’s largest indoor haunted attraction featuring 30,000 square feet of underground space and mazes. Opens September 26, 2014 and runs through November 1st. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased in advance online. Located in the Pittsburgh Strip District at the corner of 17th and Smallman Street.

Huston’s Haunted Hollow – Four haunted attractions that include a house, barn, hayride and cornfield. Opens October 3, 2014 and runs through November 2nd. Tickets start at $18 and can be purchased online. Located in Rockwood, PA.

Haunted Hayloft – A 150 acre farm and an 1886 barn set the stage for this attraction. Make your way through the barn, then a hayride and a corn maze. Amusement rides, games & food also on site. Opens October 4, 2014 and runs through October 26th. Tickets are $16. Located in Rockwood, PA.

Haunted Hillside – This haunted trail walk will give you nightmares! Opens September 26, 2014 and runs through November 1st. Tickets are $17 and can be purchased online. Located in Mount Pleasant, PA.

West Deer Nightmare – A “high scare volume, intense haunted house not designed for the weak”. Opens October 3, 2014 and runs until October 30th. Tickets start at $12 and can be purchased online. Located in Bairdford, PA.

Allen’s Haunted Hayrides – A 30 minute hayride that travels through the woods, corn fields and into the authenticated “Haunted Barn” where spiritualistic mediums detected paranormal activity. Opens October 2, 2014 and runs through November 2nd. Tickets are $13 and include carnival rides. Located in Smock, PA.

Hobgoblin Hike at Twin Lakes Park – A ½ mile outdoor Halloween walk in the haunted woods on October 17, 2014 from 7pm – 9pm. Admission is free. Located in Hempfield and Unity Townships.

Hobgoblin Hike at Cedar Creek Park – A ½ mile outdoor Halloween walk in the haunted woods on October 24, 2014 from 7pm – 9pm. Admission is free. Located in Rostraver Township.
Outside of Western Pennsylvania but worthy of a mention:
Forsaken – This terrifying experience takes place in the old Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. It’s been closed for years but has a reputation for hauntings, voices and other paranormal activity. Opens September 26, 2014 and runs through November 1st. Tickets start at $20 with VIP tickets available online. Located in Weston, WV.

Dungeon Of Horrors (WV Penitentiary) – If being in the former West Virginia Penitentiary doesn’t already creep you out, the actors will help get you to that point. Opens September 26, 2014 and runs through November 1st. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased online. Located in Moundsville, WV.

North Walk (WV Penitentiary) – Take a flashlight tour through the oldest part of the former West Virginia Penitentiary. Know as the area with the most paranomal activity, where murder, violence and brutality happened daily. It housed the most dangerous inmates in maximum security.
You’ll walk with a guide and listen to tales from the past. Opens September 26, 2014 and runs through November 1st. Tickets start at $15 and can be purchased online. Located in Moundsville, WV.

World Of Nightmares (7 Floors of Hell) – Experience 10 haunted houses in one single location! Opens September 19, 2014 and runs through November 1st. Tickets start at $25. Located in Middleburg Heights, OH.
