Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain ($32) is a recently new product in their line. Yes, it is quite pricey so that’s why I carefully chose one color to purchase and try. After long deliberating, I chose #18 Rose Pastelle. I am in love with this color! Rose Pastelle is a beautiful pale pink color, perfect for Spring.
This YSL glossy stain has an ample sponge tip that makes applying it a breeze. The texture is pretty thin and watery so you can easily apply it and then let it set. It’s not fast drying like some lips stains are either. I hate that. You barely get it on your lips, it dries and then it’s blotchy. Not with this. You can apply it, smooth it around and then let it set and dry.
I was really impressed with the shine Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain has even after it sets and dries. It leaves your lips looking just like you’ve applied a nice coat of lip gloss. As for wear, it’s not very long wearing. But I will say that when the glossy shine wore off, I was still left with nicely light pink tinted lips. And they still even had some shimmer to them.
I know other people are having mixed opinions on these YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stains, but my experience was pretty positive with the Rose Pastelle shade. But that may have been because the color is very light. Maybe my opinion would change with a darker color that is more noticeable when it fades.
All in all, I’m pleased with my YSL Rouge Pur Couture purchase. I will definitely use this glossy stain a lot, especially in the upcoming Spring and Summer months. But I really don’t think I would try any other shades, #18 is it for me. I say give it a try, you just may like it after all.
