Last fall the Urban Decay Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette ($27) came out and I told myself over and over that I did not need it. Unfortunately my “want” finally overtook my “need” mentality so I finally bought it.
Why did I cave? Because I keep seeing so many other beauty bloggers who swear that it’s a must have. Plus there are so many eyeshadow looks, using this palette, that I’ve come across on Pinterest that I’m dying to try.
Since I am quickly approaching the big 4-0, I’m feeling the need to invest in a few more palettes that contain matte options. Naked Basics contains 5 eyeshadow shades that are matte and only 1 that is a satin finish.
Here’s what you get:
Venus – off-white demi-matte
Foxy – matte creamy bisque
Walk Of Shame – light nude matte
Naked 2 – matte taupe
Faint – warm brown matte
Crave – dark brown black matte
All 6 eyeshadow shades are nicely pigmented and blend really well. These matte neutral shades are also a nice compliment to the shimmer ones in the Naked and Naked 2 palettes.
For the most part, this is a nice eyeshadow palette to have. Is it a must have for everyone? No, but if you prefer matte shades or are a little older like myself and want to avoid shimmer then this is a great option.
Available online at Urban Decay, Sephora and Ulta.
