Maybelline Color Whisper Lipstick ($6.99) is a new line of 20 beautiful shades of lip color. The concept of this lip product is that it’s “pure color pigments suspended in a weightless gel”. I purchased the colors Lust For Blush and Who Wore It Red-er. Lust For Blush is a pink nude shade and Who Wore It Red-Er is a pretty raspberry red shade. These have no scent or flavor and neither one contains shimmer.
I heard that these were being compared to the ever popular Revlon Lip Butters so I couldn’t wait to try these. After trying these two shades, I’m surprised that I’m saying this but I sort of like these better! The Revlon Lip Butters are a little harder than these Color Whispers are. These slide so smoothly on the lips and feel so light.
Maybelline claims “see through color” but both of these shades are highly pigmented and not very sheer at all. One swipe across the lips will give you plenty of color but you can build it up for a very opaque application. I love that these feel silky smooth on my lips, no matter how many layers you apply.
These keep my lips feeling soft and do not dry out my lips at all. They have a nice glossy finish to them too. Since these lipsticks are so light, they don’t have very good staying power. You’ll experience lots of transfer when eating and drinking and they will need reapplied often throughout the day.
Beautiful colors right!? I’m extremely pleased with the Maybelline Color Whisper lipsticks and plan on adding a few more shades to my collection. Are there any shades that you can recommend to me to try?
