The new Maybelline Color Jolt Intense Lip Paints ($7.73) come in 8 different colors. The majority of colors are on the darker, vampier side with only two lighter colors available. I picked up Stripped Down and Never Bare.
These lip paints come in a squeeze tube with a fuzzy felt tip applicator. They may remind you a lot of the Too Faced Melted lippies which have the exact same packaging.
They have a nice creamy texture that easily comes out of the tube. The tip is fairly precise so it makes application easy and neat enough to get close to the edges and in tight spaces.
These Color Jolts have great pigmentation. I get nice opaque coverage in one thin swipe. The consistency feels very much like a lipstick once on the lips.
They wear comfortably and have a nice glossy finish. They keep my lips feeling soft and smooth without any dryness. They are not transfer proof and will wear off like a normal lipstick does throughout the day.
I’d say these are a definite dupe for the Too Faced Melted but at a lower price point. For almost $8, you get just a little over half (0.21 oz) of what you get for a $21 Too Faced Melted (0.4 oz).
These Maybelline Color Jolts also remind me a lot of the LA Girl Glazed lip paints and the OCC Lip Tars. They feel and perform pretty similar on the lips but with different applicators.
So far I’ve only spotted these at Wal-Mart. I do like them a lot so I hope they become available in more stores and expand the color selection.
