The ELF Studio Acne Fighting Foundation ($6) is one of the newest additions to their cosmetics line. It comes in a range of 8 different shades with the packaging containing 1.21oz of foundation.
It comes in a flexible container that you can squeeze to get the foundation out of the dropper style tip. Most of my foundations are the shade called Ivory so I took a chance and ordered that one online. I got lucky cause this shade matches my fair skin perfectly!
Since it’s described as lightweight I expected a thinner, more liquid formula. To my surprise this has a pretty thick consistency. It doesn’t feel thick on the skin though.
I would definitely call this a full coverage foundation. It easily covers redness, blemishes and dark spots. I find the coverage to be very similar to my favorite Rimmel Stay Matte Mousse Foundation but it’s consistency is less dry than the Rimmel.
This applies beautifully with my damp BeautyBlender sponge giving me even, flawless coverage. It has a semi-matte finish that doesn’t look cakey or too dry.
For my oily skin this holds up fairly well throughout the day for me. I’m able to get at least 8 hours wear before any shine peeks through when I start with a primer and end with a powder.
It doesn’t break down terribly though, just some shine on my t-zone that can be corrected with some powder.
As for the acne fighting portion of this foundation, so far, so good. I haven’t had any new breakouts while wearing this the past few weeks so we’ll see how it goes long term from here on out.
I give this foundation 2 big thumbs up. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good long wearing, full coverage foundation that likes a matte finish. For that alone it’s worth trying out. Consider its acne treating properties a bonus!
Available online at ELF Cosmetics.

Hey Amanda,
I’ve been looking at this product for some time now, but I was adamant to buy it because I was afraid my acne could get worse. So I’ve been looking at reviews and I found yours most helpful. Thank you!

Hey,
Elf foundation is not too cakey for my skin type I don’t even use a primer. Worth buying for.
