China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy

This week I went back to my neon phase with China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy.  This color is a bright neon coral pink cream shade.  It’s very similar to Sally Hansen Coral Reef but much brighter.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stains, Smitten and Charm

I’ve been enjoying my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains so much lately that I decided to pick up two more colors.  I chose Smitten and Charm to add to my collection.

Smitten is a bright raspberry shade.  While I didn’t get much lip staining from the first 4 lighter shades I bought, this one definitely leaves behind color.  It leaves my lips with that just ate a cherry Popsicle look.

Charm is a pale peach shade that looks almost exactly like Revlon’s Creamsicle lip butter.  Charm has a bit more peach coloring though.  This one does not leave behind any stained color.

I’m still very much in love with these balm stains.  They leave my lips feeling smooth and moisturized.  I love how glossy they are on the lips too, totally eliminating the need for a gloss on top.

Have you purchased any Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains yet?  Which colors are your favorite?

Sometimes I can’t resist Elf cosmetics simply because they are so darn affordable.  I love their blush for only $3 and these glosses for only $1!  Elf Hypershine lipgloss in Flirt is a soft light pink color without shimmer or sparkles.

If you’re a fan of the Stila lip glazes, then you’ll like these too.  They have really decent pigmentation and feel silky smooth.  Yes they are a bit sticky just like the Stila glazes but I don’t mind that.

These Elf Hypershine lipglosses also come in a pen type applicator with a brush tip.  Simply twist the bottom of the pen to release more lipgloss into the brush end. I think they are so handy to just brush on and go.

Stila lip glazes are a little bigger (0.08oz) than these Elf lipglosses (0.05oz) but way more expensive too.  The Elf ones cost a buck while the Stila ones retail for $22!  So if you’re looking for an alternative to the Stila, try these Elf Hypershine lip glosses.

Available at Target and ELF.

YBF Sultry Eyes and Lips Collection

For months now I kept seeing the YBF (Your Best Friend) cosmetics line on HSN.  I kept wanting to try something from the line but nothing really caught my interest enough.  When Snow White and The Huntsman came out in theaters, YBF created this Sultry Eye and Lip collection ($28.80) for HSN’s day of products inspired by the movie.

This collection consists of 4 full size pieces; an eyeshadow quad, eyeliner, lip liner and lip gloss.  For the price, I thought it was a great deal.  I love the packaging of the eyeshadow quad.  It’s gunmetal gray plastic with a raised black plastic bumpy top that looks jeweled from far away.  The inside of the lid contains a nice size mirror.

What I really love is the plastic hinged cover over the eyeshadows.  Just flip it open to use the shadows and then replace it when you’re done.  It keeps any shadow remnants contained which keeps the palette and mirror nice and clean.

I have to say, I’m so confused by whoever named these colors.  The colors do not look anything like what their named.  I expected the Plum Noir eye liner to be a dark purple but it’s actually more of a red.  I don’t know about you but I don’t find red eye liner appealing at all!

The Posing Plum lip liner is not very plum colored either.  It’s a very dark brownish red.  Again, not a very appealing lip color to me.  It’s quite a shame because both the lip and eye liners are nice quality.  They are smooth and creamy and easy to apply.  Each one comes with a built in sharpener in the lid too.

I do really like the lip gloss though.  It’s highly pigmented and very creamy.  It gives my lips a very pretty color and shine without any stickiness.  But again, it’s named Modern Mauve.  I happen to really like the color but someone ordering this set might expect a rose/berry mauve color.  It’s actually more of a nude with a hint of pink.

As for the eyeshadow quad, again the colors were not what I was expecting.  They refer to them as Pretty in Pink, Confident Cocoa, Beautiful Bordeaux and Bold in Black.  In the palette, the colors are much lighter than expected.  The pink is barely tinted, the cocoa looks almost gray, the bordeaux is a light purple and the black looks navy.

Even though the colors are not true to their descriptions, I do like the quality of the eyeshadows.  They go on nice and smooth with a good amount of pigmentation.  They are easily blendable and last a full 8 hours with a good eye primer.

As you can see, the eyeshadow colors look a lot different swatched than in the palette.  I just wish the pink was more pink and that the black was actually black.

I can’t say that I would recommend this YBF Sultry Eyes and Lips collection solely because of the color issues.  It’s not worth me returning this to HSN once they deduct for the return shipping so I’m going to keep it.  However, I’ll never use the eye or lip liners.  But I will use the lip gloss and eyeshadows even though the colors aren’t what I expected.

Available at HSN.
