Today I’m sharing my final MyGlam bag with you. After April’s disappointing bag, I gave myself one more month to decide if I should continue my subscription. Well, sadly this month’s MyGlam bag did not impress me enough to see a point in sticking with it any longer.
Philosophy Love Sweet Love Fragrance – a soft fruity scent with maybe a hint of floral, can’t quite tell but it’s nice.
Studio Gear Lipstick in Redwood – A dark red with a bit of shimmer.
Miss Beauty Nail Bling – nail stickers with pink hearts on them. Kinda juvenile for me at 36 but I may save them to use next Valentine’s Day. But they smell horrible, a strong plastic scent.
Concealer and Eyeliner Brushes
Although I was happy to see a bigger brand name like Philosophy in this month’s bag, fragrance samples can be picked up anywhere for free. And again with the makeup brushes! They aren’t the greatest quality and if I wanted cheap brushes I would just go to Target and buy ELF brushes for $1 each.
With these sample bags, I’m looking to try new and exciting beauty products before I buy them. Even if I liked the makeup brushes, I couldn’t even repurchase them. They’re just a cheap filler for the bags. And the Nail Bling, I couldn’t even find those online either. So even if I loved them, I couldn’t get them again. So what’s the point? I don’t get it, so I’m out!
I’m going to start off this post by stating that this is my least favorite MyGlam bag so far. I’m really disappointed in this month’s bag, so much so that I’m really considering cancelling my account. As soon as I felt the bubble mailer, I had a feeling I wasn’t going to be happy. It felt empty.
The first thing you’ll see is the bright pink, shiny makeup bag. So not my thing. Inside the MyGlam bag we got 5 items. The first two things are makeup brushes similar to the one we got last month. One is an eyeshadow brush and one is an eyeliner brush.
The next item is Dermstore’s Lip Quench, a moisturizing lip treatment. This has a slightly fruity smell at first but when I apply it, it smells like plastic. And on top of that, I received the Pur-lisse Lip Comfort last month which was almost exactly like this lip quench. At least this one has a slight pink color to it.
Next up is a sample sized (0.03oz) Urban Decay 24/7 glide on eyeliner pencil in the color Perversion, which is jet black. This sample is the only item that is so-so for me. I like the Urban Decay eyeliners but they never wear well for me. They’re so soft and don’t stay put on my oily eyelids. This jet black color will be a mess for me so I probably won’t use it.
Lastly we have a pair of false eyelashes that I’ll never use. I don’t wear false eyelashes so I have no use for these at all. I can’t even tell you more about them because they are in a foreign language.
Now for my little rant as to why I’m so disappointed. I subscribe for these sample services to get just that. Samples of products that I can try first before I buy them full size. I get that most people will really love getting the makeup brushes but to be honest, Michelle Phan getting a factory to make makeup brushes in mass quantities probably is costing pennies per brush. So of course she’s going to do that and make us feel like we’re getting a deal.
And product samples like these eyelashes are kinda worthless. Why do we ladies in the United States want to try eyelashes from another country that we can’t re-purchase if we love them? I want stuff I can try and buy! I don’t know…I just feel kinda duped. Like we’re gonna start getting things bought or made in bulk overseas for pennies. Or “gift cards” that nobody wants or uses like we’ve gotten several times before.
Maybe I’m overreacting. If you got this month’s MyGlam bag, let me know what you thought.
After such a wonderful March Birchbox, this month’s MyGlam bag just didn’t do it for me at all. I’m not excited about one product in this month’s bag which is really unusual for me. I can usually find the positive in at least one item but gosh, not this one. I really could do without everything.
One thing we got which was so-so was a crease brush in it’s own hot pink case. It seems to be ok quality wise but I can’t understand why they wouldn’t have paired that with some eyeshadow of some sort. It would have been a lot more exciting and fun if we had something to try the brush with. Especially for someone who doesn’t have a lot of makeup, that would have been a real treat.
Three things were sample packs which you can get pretty much anywhere:
Murad Eye Lift Perfector (0.015oz). – No info to go with it, just a random tiny packet.
Pur-lisse Pur-Protect daily moisturizer (0.14oz) – Pretty self explanatory here. Contains SPF 30 and white tea to calm sensitive skin.
Keracolor Color Enhancing Leave in Treatment (0.17oz) – Enhances, protects, strengthen and hydrates the hair.
The only full size item in the bunch is a Pur-Lisse Pur-Lip Comfort daily lip nourisher. Contains mango and shea butters to hydrate the lips. Feels pretty nice on my lips with zero scent or flavor.
Lastly is a Dermstore coupon code for $25 off any order of $50 or more. I’ve never purchased from this website before but I probably will just to use the coupon at some point but it’s only good until May 1st.
Everything came packaged in a cute multi-colored floral bag which I thought was perfect for spring. I really don’t like skincare oriented sample bags so I’m hoping next month is more makeup geared. They suckered us in with their very first bag which was all makeup and then switched to hardly any makeup. Really disappointing to me.
Did you get this month’s MyGlam bag? If you did, were you happy with what you received?
I have to say that this is only the third month of the MyGlam bag to ever go out and I’ve been pleased with every single month. The main reason why I love MyGlam so much is that they are keeping everyone happy by giving all subscribers the same things. That’s one of the reasons why I think Birchbox has been taking such a hit lately.
Birchbox’s contents are so drastically different for a lot of people. One person gets products valued at around $30 and the next person may only get things valued at $15. Naturally, the people who get the lesser valued box are going to get upset and disappointed. Which I think is understandable.
But that’s not the case with MyGlam thankfully. February’s MyGlam sample bag came in an adorable pink shiny bag with black hearts on it. And the contents inside were pretty great too!
Here’s what I got:
Freeman Facial Hydration Mask in Goji Berry – A generous 0.5oz sample packet that will get me at least two uses out of it.
Premier Dead Sea Cinderella Mask and Eye Cream – Each small packet is 0.07oz. One packet is an eye cream to firm skin. The other packet is a stretching and revitalizing mask to treat fine lines and wrinkles. They came in a cute pink pouch plus a 50% discount code to order the full size.
X Out Shine Control – A 0.75oz tube of oil free moisturizer with a shine control mattifying complex. This is from the makers of Proactiv so I’m excited to try it.
NYX Roll on Shimmer in Salmon – A full sized eye, face and body shimmer which is a brand new product for NYX. Salmon is a pinkish champagne loose powder that rolls on easily. It has tons of sparkle to it. I’m not sure how you’re supposed to use this as an eyeshadow though. It’s a very loose powder and would have tons of glittery fall out. Plus a 30% discount code for purchasing more!
Salmon roll on shimmer
NuMe $100 Gift Certificate – I was shocked by this one! It’s a coupon code that you can put towards any of their professional stying tools and hair extensions. It’s good until this coming August so I will probably take advantage of this for a new flat iron.
Pink Shiny Makeup Bag with Black Hearts
Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares – One milk chocolate and one dark chocolate square which was perfect cause hubs likes dark and I like milk so we shared them in honor of Valentine’s Day.
So what so you think of the MyGlam subscription service? Pretty great for only $10 right? Check out the contents of my other two previous MyGlam bags too.
