Homemade Cake Batter Ice Cream

homemade cake batter ice creamAnyone who’s never tasted cake batter ice cream can’t begin to imagine what they’re missing.  It’s a delicious vanilla flavor ten steps above plain old vanilla.  And just like the name describes, it has a vanilla cake flavor to it also.

Over the years I’ve tried quite a few different brands of ice cream in this flavor.  Most of them have been good but nothing compares to this homemade recipe.  I don’t know why it never occurred to me that cake batter ice cream would actually have cake batter in it.  But it does!

This ice cream tastes amazing!  It has a much deeper cake batter flavor than any store bought I’ve had.  And it’s super smooth and creamy.

I know one thing, I’ll never buy store bought cake batter ice cream ever again.  I will only make it by hand in the future.  I’m even thinking of trying a few different cake batter flavors like butter pecan, lemon and strawberry.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

I’m always looking through my pantry to see what goodies I can come up with without going to the store.  A bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips caught my eye this time.

At first I was going to just make chocolate chip ice cream but I kinda think that’s boring.  Chocolate chips just don’t do that much to vanilla ice cream in my opinion.  So instead, I wanted to do chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips in it.

I went in search of just the right recipe and came to choose one from the Nestle kitchens.  It’s an easy recipe that only takes a few minutes prep time before putting into your ice cream machine.  The end result is a nice and sweet creamy chocolate ice cream dotted with chocolate chips.

Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream

Last week it was so stinking hot and humid here in Western PA.  The last thing I wanted to do was cook dinner and make my house even hotter.  But I was willing to make some cool, refreshing homemade ice cream.

I was thrilled to come across this easy ice cream recipe.  It requires no eggs and no cooking of the base.  Just a few simple ingredients mixed together.

The result is ice cream that is the creamiest that I have made so far.  It is so velvety smooth and packed with peanut butter flavor.  I used a whole bag of the new mini Reeses unwrapped peanut butter cups.  They are perfectly bite sized for ice cream.

Chocolate Milk Ice Cream

I don’t know why I never thought of this before but Natalie’s Killer Cuisine gave me a great idea.  Using chocolate milk to make creamy and delicious chocolate milk ice cream!

This chocolate ice cream turns out so good.  It’s got a nice smooth chocolate flavor that reminds me a lot of a Wendy’s chocolate frosty.  It couldn’t be any easier to make or taste any better in my opinion!

Lemon Nilla Wafer Ice Cream

lemon nilla wafer ice cream

Hmm, what can I do with older lemons that are starting to shrivel up?  Oh, I know…lemon ice cream!  And oh yum, did it turn out delicious!

This ice cream recipe is awesome and I think the reason it turned out so creamy was the unique way you incorporate the heavy cream.  Before you add it to your milk and sugar, you whip it just like you’re making whipped cream.  So before it even makes it to the ice cream maker, it’s already nice and thick and whipped to a creamy consistency.
