Barbecue Pulled Pork Sliders

barbecue pulled pork sliders

Applebees restaurant has little barbecue pork sliders that are super yummy.  So the inspiration for this recipe comes strictly from them.  I’m usually not a pork or red meat eater but there’s just something so delicious about it once it’s slathered in rich homemade barbecue sauce.

I found a different barbecue sauce recipe to test out that’s based on ketchup and brown sugar.  It’s another winner!  It turned out sweet and tangy with just the right amount of zip.  Combined with the sweetness of the King’s Hawaiian honey wheat rolls I used, they were oh so yummy!

I find that using a crock pot to slow cook the pork works best for me.  I used around a 4lb hunk of pork this time but I divided it in half after it was fully cooked.  I’m using the other half of the shredded pork later this week for pork tacos.  That recipe will be coming soon too!

Bacon Barbecued Chicken Kebabs

bacon barbecued chicken kebabs

Looking at these grilled chicken kebabs you’d never guess that bacon comes into play.  But since I had practically a whole package of bacon left from the grilled cheese and bacon potatoes, I decided to try this unique chicken kebab recipe.  And actually the way you prepare the bacon was quite weird to me.

I’ve never heard of making a paste with bacon before but what the heck, I thought I’d give it a try.  Once you make the bacon and spice paste, you rub it onto the raw chicken kebabs before grilling.  Then as you grill, baste the chicken kebabs with the homemade barbecue sauce.

These are some really good grilled chicken kebabs.  The bacon and the smoked paprika give them a great smokey flavor while the barbecue sauce gives them some zippy tang.

This recipe does take a good amount of prep work but you’ll find the taste is well worth it.  Next time I make them, I may skip the kebab prep portion and just use whole chicken breasts.

Tangy BBQ Shredded Chicken Pitas

tangy bbq shredded chicken pitas

Ever since I started making my own homemade barbecue sauce I’ve become kinda obsessed.  I’ve made it my mission to try every different barbecue sauce recipe that I come across.  And I am so glad I came across this bbq recipe.

This bbq sauce is by far the most delicious I have ever had.  It is better than all my previous barbecue sauce recipes and any bottled version I’ve ever bought.  It is so good I swear I could slather it on just about anything and it would be edible.  Just thinking about it is making my mouth water.

I love this bbq sauce so much because of its intense flavors.  It’s like a flavor party in your mouth.  A little sweet, a bit spicy and so very tangy.  If you’re looking for something bland and boring, then this is not for you.

This barbecue sauce is so easy and just calls for mainly spices and ketchup.  If you keep a stocked pantry like I usually do, you probably already have all of these ingredients for this sweet and tasty sauce.  Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Chipotle Barbecue Grilled Chicken

chipotle barbecue grilled chicken

It’s sad to say but our grilling days are almost over here in Western Pennsylvania.  But since yesterday was the first nice day without rain in almost a week, I wanted to get some last minute grilling in while I could.

I’ve been holding on to a can of chipotle chilis in adobo sauce just for the heck of it.  And as I was flipping through my November issue of Everyday with Rachael Ray, I found my opportunity to finally use them.
