Is a housewife the same thing as a homemaker? What if you have a job? Does this make you any less of a wonderful and committed mother?
All these questions came to mind as I was naming my blog, Cooking With The Last True Housewives. I will tell you a little secret. I work. It is true. I started my blog because I feel that being a housewife is my first job. I cannot be a stay-at-home mom at this time, but does this mean I don’t fit into the housewives club?
I say not at all! I am writing this post, because a recent comment from another working mom just got me thinking. I don’t know why I never felt the need to say that I am a working mom. I guess in some ways when it comes to cooking and taking care of my family, I forget. I don’t let it stand in the way of what I feel is important.
I am a kindergarten teacher and I love to teach. But…I love my family more. I really wanted my blog to be about my cooking and recipes, but I guess it is turning out to be so much more than that!
To me, being a housewife means being there for your family. It means making time to be together with family meals and special moments. It means making family the most important thing in your world.
So, am I really a housewife? If my family thinks so, then that’s all that matters!
